Hey, at least you learned the lesson without having to suffer for it. That’s a win-win in any situation!
Completely agree, I feel extremely fortunate.

Here’s the front and rear view. Watching the video doesn’t articulate how close I came to losing control and hitting the SUV. Felt badly if I frighten the driver. That’s my buddy in he
is new vet behind me
No judgment here, but this is exactly why I save "Track" for the track. I don't have near the hp you GT500 owners have, but there's no reason to roll around with the TC off on the street. It only massively increases your likelihood of doing exactly what you just did in that video and very likely much worse. Cold tires plus tire shine = black ice as far as traction is concerned.

Just because every car reviewer (top gear were the worst at this) jumps in the car and immediately turns off all of the traction control to set a lap time, doesn't mean that needs to be the way you commute to and from your local car show.

Because I get asked this often… a little FYI… when you select Track Mode, you get an amber traction control indicator on the dash. People mistake this for “traction control off.” This is not the case. TC is still on and so is SC (stability control). The parameters are loosened up though to allow more wheel spin and yaw (drift). The nannies will still kick in to reel the car in, but not as soon as other drive modes.

I don’t normally use Track Mode on the streets because of the harsh ride in the CFTP. I have a My Mode programmed that has everything set to Sport with the exception of the suspension, which is set to Normal.

Nice explanation Tim, this was exactly my understanding after reading through the manual. I drive mine in normal with all modes accept the exhaust mode, which i like track mode, until the oil temps warm up, typically 10-15 minutes after driving and then hit my program driving mode, which switches every to Sport w/exhaust kept at track mode. The exception was this one time, because my buddy, who you can see in the rearview mirror that just picked up a 2022 vet wanted to hear the exhaust with the engine in track mode so it would’ hold the gears longer. Probably won’t be driving in track mode anymore as I do not track my GT500.
