Wonder why they changed it as that video shows a pretty damn good filter
They were extremely robust, so all I can guess was because they were in such short supply a couple years ago, the redesign had more to do with correcting a supply chain issue than a cost save. It could also be that in an attempt to correct the supply chain issue and have them made elsewhere, the cost was going to rise to an unreasonable level. We'll never know.

I'm a little late to this party, only having upgraded from our 2022 Mach 1 to a 2020 GT500 a few months ago, but I have read almost every post in this thread. Seeing that I am on the cusp of needing to change the oil, I decided to go ahead and order the 2087A since I'm not gonna pay the price gouger rate for the previous filter design.

Admittedly, from only seeing the pics of the A vs non-A comparisons from the OP and others, the pictures weren't encouraging. With that being said, actually seeing a 2087A in person and feeling it in my hand, and in checking the rigidity of the innards/outtards, I'm going to use the 2087A and not worry about it. If I do have an engine failure attributable to the 2087A, I will call my attorney and crank up the 'war machine.'

I found one 2087 filter at an O'Reillys about 45 minutes north of me today, and I drove up to get it. I asked the tech to search for any others out there, and he found none. I'm not sure how wide a net that search cast, but there were several pages of stores listed on his screen.

Well, I was able to get 3 from @kilobravo KB, 6 from Middleton Motorsports, so with the 4 I already have I got 13 of the FL-2087, I tried ordering from Amazon the old part number, but the new one arrived,(3,FL-2087A)

It's possible in a year or so, we find out the "A" has no issues over the non.
But it would take someone running them in my climate (below freezing sometimes @
beginning of track day) for 10 odd track days, before I was 100% convinced.
I’m good with what I have to never have to put the A to the test.

I have been following this thread with interest. The FL2087s are no longer available in Switzerland either. In November I was able to order 3 pieces from my Swiss US part supplier and 2 pieces from a German Mustang tuner. I can easily get by with an annual oil/filter change. So I'm covered with my stock for the next 8-9 years.

I've used upwards of 10 year old oil filters, but I always wondered if the filter medium starts to break down at any point, when these filter get really old. And even if the "non" is better, at what age is it not really better, than a brand new "A".

Yours are already bad Henry. Send them to me for proper disposal. The answer is 5 hours… they go bad after 5 hours!

No no no Goose, you’re trying to rip him off!

Jim, I’ll save you the shipping costs & pick them up from you when I get my OBDii adapter back. I’ve got your back 😉

He’s just trying to catch up to me! 😂

I just had someone reach out to me with 6 more original filters, which I am buying. I think I will build a pool and fill it with filters.

I’m going to start stuffing them in my walls like a drug dealer does cash 🤣

Ok, so whoever wants them, the guy at the parts department I scored the 1 filter from this last Saturday called me today to let me know there are 65 of them still in an warehouse somewhere.

They're still out there folks!
