So the Mrs and I are driving the Shelby to SF next week without a spare tire. I am a gambling type and an optimist but are we asking for trouble? Side note I never knew I had an air compressor in the trunk. 🤣. Also is there tow rod onboard somewhere, I am front license plate adapter but no rod to screw into the place!!!šŸ˜‚

Ant thoughts or advice?

The inflator and a plug kit will cover most issues.

I ordered my spare tire from automotive authority. Mine arrived in 3 days after I placed my order. If you decide you want one, call them and see how fast they can get it in your hands. Maybe before you hit the road to ShelbyFest.

Here is a thread on the subject:

Most spares won't come close to clearing the rotor unless you mount a tire to a 20" wheel with sufficient clearance.

This has been a real pain for years with some aftermarket vendors making spares that clear for the S197 GT500s.

Unfortunately, Ford chose an odd fitment for which no run flats exist. This is one area GM got it right by making run flats their OE tire with the Corvette.

I 2nd, well 3rd, the automotive authority and it fits in the trunk well just fine. Many different threads on it, including people that have put them on and test drove it. Make sure to order the correct one so u have the clearance of our massive brakes.
