So the Mrs and I are driving the Shelby to SF next week without a spare tire. I am a gambling type and an optimist but are we asking for trouble? Side note I never knew I had an air compressor in the trunk. 🤣

The inflator and a plug kit will cover most issues.

Most spares won't come close to clearing the rotor unless you mount a tire to a 20" wheel with sufficient clearance.

This has been a real pain for years with some aftermarket vendors making spares that clear for the S197 GT500s.

Unfortunately, Ford chose an odd fitment for which no run flats exist. This is one area GM got it right by making run flats their OE tire with the Corvette.

 

I ran a full size spare wheel/tire in the back seat of my 2008, but the whole seat folded down and made for a nice "old-fashioned" Shelby look. Traveling outside my local area, I wouldn't be caught dead without a full size spare .... just my OCD.

 

Automotive authoritie (Eric cartman) spare tire kit fits both my 2021 gt 500 and 2020 gt 350. Excellent product, and it fits in the trunk nicely

 

I 2nd, well 3rd, the automotive authority and it fits in the trunk well just fine. Many different threads on it, including people that have put them on and test drove it. Make sure to order the correct one so u have the clearance of our massive brakes.

 

Have one in my 2019 GT350's wheel well. Never used it but test fitted it on the huge calipers on the GT350 and it fits. They give you a spacer plate in the kit, so it will clear the front calipers. Great peace of mind when I take a long trip, such as Shelbyfest this coming Monday!

 

I also have the Automotive Authority spare. Comes with a 27.2" tall tire with a speed rating of around 100mph. So no small weenie wheel that limits you to 55 mph.
