You could try to get somebody to swap?

 

Swap for base seats.

 

If someone is close by with a base seat, I'd try that before going down any path. Then decide.

 

Im a bigger guy and base seat all the way for me...I couldnt stand the Recaros while I was doing the track attack and im glad I didnt get them in my base model. Once you sit in them its night and day, at least it was for me!

 

Bigger guy? I'm 6'3" 250 and the Recaro's fit snugly. On longer drives they can need to be adjusted a little. The base seats are amazingly comfortable. Hopefully you will find someone to trade plus cash to you.

 

That’s the main reason I didn’t order the recaro seats they are not comfortable for anybody over 230 pounds. My boss302 had the recaros and they were a lot wider and way easier to get in and out. Now if the recaros had power and heated,AC I would have dealt with it how they are to get in and out of

That explains a lot. On weekends I’m 232, during the week I’m 225. Now I know why the Recaros aren’t always comfortable. 😅

 

"Big guy" as in obese, or as in "big" because of genetics? I got an awesome leather jacket for Christmas and it didn't fit, was a bit too tight and uncomfortable. I went and lost about 8 pounds, now it fits beautifully. Yeah, I could have sent it back but it all just screamed "lose a few pounds, buddy".

If it's #1, maybe it's a good motivator to lose a few because it's a good thing to do for yourself. If it's #2, then you need base seats, no way around it.

I’m a fatty and the recaros don’t bother me too much.

 

I'm 5'11" and about 190lbs and they're a dream!

Swap for the base seats, I sat in one before and they're comfortable. I'm low key jealous that us with the CTFP dont get heated/cooled seats

 

I’m 6’1ish and 280, and I HATE the recaros. I managed to wedge myself into them at the track attack, but I wouldn’t want them in my car. The base seats are awesome and fit this fatass perfectly. You can physically swap base seats into a recaro car easy enough, but the electrical harness is missing a lot of stuff, and the car is missing the wiring and buttons to control the heating and cooling functions.

The easier thing to do might be taking apart the seats and see if you can bend the metal frame to open them up a little. I did this in my Focus years ago that had uncomfortably tight bolstering. It helped immensely. I read somewhere where someone did exactly this with Recaros in am S550. Just can’t recall where.

 

Have you considered that you can change a seat？

A buddy in the club called getting the base seats in his GT350 instead of the Recaros the 'fat man tax'.

 

The only part of the Recaro that bothers me is the outside thigh bolster. The front corner where it bends back down towards the seat cushion puts pressure on my thigh. Most days it doesn’t bother me too much, other days it’s annoying. But, it’s a semi-daily driver so I accept it as the entrance fee to owning such a badass car.

That being said, I’m taking it on an 8 hour road trip in May to Coastal Dyno for some much needed engine love and tuning and I’ll probably have some choice words for the seats then lol

 

Maybe sit on a pillow or a cushion to raise you up a bit. This should make the high side bolsters much more tolerable for the long trek.

 

I tried the Recaros before ordering, no go for me unless it was a track only car. Base seats are very comfortable. There are always people looking to trade one for the other, check out some of the Facebook GT500 groups (FB sucks I know but there’s a lot of people on there)

 

Has anyone been able to get the heat/ac working for the confort seats? I know I'd have to replace the controls in the center dash for the control buttons, at the very least, but is the wiring harness back there and does it go all the way under the seat to be hooked up?

 

Any idea how difficult a swap to a base seat would be if someone didn’t care about the heated and cooled seats. Just need the seats to function with adjustments. Could anyone perform the swap?

 

I have not bothered to look upside down under my seat yet, but if it's like other cars I've owned, it's just 4 bolts.

 

Anyone have a part number for the base seats?

 

They don’t sell the seat as a complete assembly. You’d have to buy every single part separately and put a seat together. I bet it would cost 20 grand by the time you got everything. The only way you could do this affordably is to source secondhand seats from wrecked cars or some other way.
