Problems with 2nd clutch @ 47k mi

I had the trans TSB done at 24K. Now at 47K my clutch slips again when aggressive throttle is applied in 4th gear and above. I took it to the dealer where I purchased the car and had the TSB done. They said that the PT warranty didn't cover the clutch and refused to proceed with any warranty work. I took it to another dealer who ran a road test and determined the obvious, that the clutch was definitely slipping. They referred me to Ford. I called them and they referred me back to the original dealer. Who has not contacted me. The head service tech at the second dealer suggested a McCleod clutch, but when I input the car into their search box, I get a 'not listed' message. I have two questions, (1) what clutch would be best for my car (572rwhp/584fpt) with an eye for 800rwhp in the future, and semi-decent road manners. (2) I read an article in this month's MM&FF tech section that stated, a clutch could become glazed during an improper burn out, and that the RXT clutch could recondition it's self. Is it possible that my clutch is just glazed? Not completely wasted? I have turned the tires over twice recently with the engine bouncing of the rev limiter (before the slipping began).

Thanks for the info. I will keep the DYAD in mind. I was told that the clutch in the GT 500 was a CF clutch. With the history of this clutch, I will be skeptical of quality. The price seems quite high as well. But I do appreciate your reply and have filed the pages you posted for future comparison. Thanks, Sam.

I have spent the last couple of hours researching clutches on line. The DYAD is looking more attractive. Does anyone know what clutch Shelby is using in the 700+ hp Super Snake?
I have never heard that before, that Centerforce produced the previous clutches. It's not like their "business model" to produce a grabby/chattery clutch. I suppose if Ford spec-ed it out that way, it's possible. The OEM clutch in my '08 was very grabby. However the stock clutch in my '10 has been awesome, much more like a Centerforce Dual-Friction in that it has GREAT street manners and has held up well so far. With that said, I still do not think it is a Centerforce product. My personal experience with Centerforce clutches has been 100% positive.

I would be willing to try one of these DYAD clutches even if it's unproven. Fortunately I do not need a clutch right now.

Let us know if you go this route, I'm VERY interested in real-world feedback on it.

Also worth noting, unless I'm mistaken, it seems for those of us with 10'-up GT500's, in order to run the McLeod setup, you have to swap back to the older style slave cylinder? I have read nothing anywhere that the C/F requires this change...

Addressing the SS clutch, there's nothing in the literature for a '10 SS that mentions a clutch upgrade. There is mention of the driveshaft, brakes and other options, but nothing about the clutch in the package. I think in one guy's "rant topic" about his clutch not getting warranted after 10K miles, he mentioned that they do not upgrade it for the SS, yet denied him coverage for just adding a pulley and tune?

Fidanza units are also used in Vipers and the ZR1.

I just had a RXT with heavy flywheel put in mine. You'll wanna feel this before you decide on a replacement down the road.

It WILL create some big time re-learning to launch on my part. Lots of play before engagement, unlike the stock units. And far less progressive when it's ready to clamp. So much for my quick, progressive swap of clutch for throttle. :mofo:

It's going to have to be fast or my rpm will blow to the limiter between the time the clutch comes off the floor and the time the clutch engages. (2-step)

But.....it ain't gonna break, that's for sure.
