Oil Change Warning

2014, 2400 miles
Every time I start I get an oil change warning.
(Going through forum - looks like oil change is unwarranted at 2400 miles. Especially since I've been babying her.)
How do I reset that that indication?
Is it a programming glitch or based on oil condition?
Thanks!

The timer will indicate oil change needed after 6 months. Change your oil.

If you want to reset it, the info is in your manual.

+1.

Procedure is outlined on pg 99 of the Mustang Owner's Manual (3rd Printing)...

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change perform the following:
1. Press and release SETUP to display OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW.
2. Press and hold RESET for two seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.
(Note that other percentages are also available, in 10% increments.)

Location of the appropriate menu (i.e., Settings -> Vehicle -> Oil Life Reset) within the Information Displays is specified on pg 104.

Ongoing, my car would always prompt an oil change well-before I'd reached my 5,000-mile interval. Probably because even though it's my primary car, I only average around 8,000 miles/year.

I simply reset the oil-life to get it out of my face, change my oil at the 5,000 interval, and then reset the oil-life again after the oil-change.

Oil doesn't go bad in 6-months, I find the timer to be overtly annoying.

i change mine once a year before storage...2,000 miles a year...it always goes off when Spring comes...and clearing it always seems overly difficult to figure out too....why not have an option to 0 it out along with the warning? instead you have to go through the pages to find the place to reset it

You have that. Must be one of the advantages of the less desirable models? I have had it a year and half and put 3000 on it and no annoying messages. :D

For me, it's not an issue. I received free oil and filter changes for the life of the car when I bought it from my beloved dealer! Light comes on, usually before I reach the mileage. Just go in, get it changed, and on my way. Wonderful perk!! They've since discontinued that program, but my Shelby and my puddle jumper Fusion still have it.

That is a good deal Mike. Just make sure the dealer doesn't put in too much oil.

Thanks to all. At 2704, I changed oil and filter all by myself!! Got every thing from the local Ford dealer. Once I had access to a lift, it was very easy. Would be nice to have drain plug drilled for safety wire....
