I also wonder why they don't show glass. I've used Rain-X on my windshield and know how great Rain-X does when you have a fresh application of it on the windshield but Rain-X usually doesn't last long either. It would be great to have a long lasting product to put on your windows of the car to make it repel rain.

From the description on the site, they sell a "bottom coat" and a "top coat" so I wonder if it's a two step process? Would be interesting to hear if anyone has put it on a windshield. The site does say the lower limit of working temperature is 30 degrees F though.

Joe, I haven't looked at the link because I've been looking at your car. In all honesty that's one of the best looking GT500's I've seen.

 

I tried to order Aquapel at the site you had in your post but they wanted me to join some sort of Google pay thing, would not process my order without an email and password and agreeing to Google's terms so I looked elsewhere and found Aquapel on Amazon. Google makes me mad enough plastering me with ads and tracking me all the time so I sure don't want them to set me up some charge thing and go through them to pay for stuff. I think Google is trying to take over the world!!

But that being said the Aquapel sounds interesting. My big problem with Rain-X is it doesn't last long. And as it start to go it does less to clear your windshield so you need to use the wipers a bit and the wipers remove some of the Rain-X so it does less of a job than it had been so you use your wipers more, a visious circle, until the Rain-X is all gone.

And it does last a long time. Something about it treats the glass, not just a coating. I got sick of the Rainx having to be put on every week. I hardly ever use my wipers on the highway with the Aquapel.

 

This reminds me of a chemical I use to coat glass vessels called Surfasil, but Im pretty sure this is not that, since its toxic and only bonds with glass surfaces, to make a siliconized layer. This looks more like a polymer of some sort due to the whitish coloration it gives objects that it coats.
I assume that it requires 2 different coats, because like Surfasil, the actual hydrophobic layer wont bond to just any type of surface. So they spray the undercoat which is the intermediate bonding agent, that will bond to any surface, in addition to the PTFE/Siliconizing type polymer.
Looks like a fantastic product, but I just dont know if its safe to use on paint or any surface that you care about its original color and look, and lastly your car windows because it makes a haze.
