Trailer Escape Door & Ramp?

Would like to hear from different owners on escape doors. Basically, the basic escape door, and make the ramp setup. Or would you get the "full" escape door down to, and into the wheelwell area (including removable wheelwell).

It appears even the least expensive trailer I could find with the "full door", is on average 10-15 grand more than a lower cost, basic escape door trailer. Probably a better trailer overall, but I don't need a top notch trailer.

That and the ramp idea would seem useful for possible work/inspection of car maybe during a track day. Not sure if it's really up high enough for that type of thing. But ramp deal also allows you to open door further inside (I'd guess), without opening any escape door (IE, it's pouring out, you just want to get something in or out of car, @ car show weekend, lets say)
First off, ANY escape door in an enclosed trailer is VITAL! Whether it is a traditional escape door or the larger type that opens down to the floor… either can work.

The larger type won’t require any modifications:

However, you still have the trailer wheels/tires interfering with your driver door. Strategic placement of the car might be necessary to open the driver door.

If you go with the traditional smaller door, you will most likely find our cars are too low to take advantage of the escape door. This will require a mod… to raise the car in the trailer. Once you have your driver door opening above the trailer fender and into the trailer escape door, you can now open your door fully without concern for any obstruction.

My 20’ escape door was not compatible with my Mustangs. I modded it to work. I later added eTrack and raised my ramp over platforms a bit more to work with the low CFTP.

Mario, why not install a floor-mounted winch in your trailer?
There are 2 ways to put our cars into neutral… one uses battery power, the other mechanically disengages the tranny. You would have to use the latter and then there would be no way to reengage the trans once the car is in the trailer without climbing into the car to hold the brake first. I don’t recall if you can engage the parking brake through the window in this mode or not. If you could engage the parking brake, you could just leave your trans disconnected until you get to your destination… just set the parking brake and strap down the car.
