I tracked both my 350R and my 500 (Ford was going to call the Carbon Fiber Track Package the 500R before they unveiled the car, but I digress).

350R was fun on track—Amazing car.

500 I feel like I have a partner in the car—I deal with steering and balance, it deals with shifting and braking. Love it!!! And the SPEEEEEEDDDDDDDD!!!!

I felt like JAWS out there on track. Terrorizing the other cars on track.

Love this car—I should call it Bruce.

 HaveI seen this car before. Looks like its at the dealer. ;)

The only thing I miss about my GT350 is the sweet purr of that voodoo when you’re doing a high rpm downshift. Such sweet music. All around the GT500 fits what I want from a high performance mustang better than the GT350. That being said I want to add a 2020 GT350R in the next few years when I get my shop built out.

I suspect this question has been asked many times before—but I don’t troll these sites that much—so thought I would throw it out there again.

I have a 2020 GT350R Heritage edition. Love the car to be sure. However, I took my Raptor in to my mechanic for fluid swaps, and spent time checking out his 4 GT500s—two 2020’s, and two 2022’s. He believes them to be the best Mustang’s ever made. So kinda of thinking hard about it now.

There are many new ones out there still—including many Brittany Blues (based on the colors available in the Bay Area—Brittany Blues are the most plentiful).

I have seen some discussion on YouTube—AutoFantic and Raiti’s Rides compared both—and neither would make the switch.

So…for those that have made the switch—regrets, or you never looked back?

Sadly, don’t have the room for both.

Thanks for those that aren’t bored with this question and care to weigh in.

I had the exact car you have 2020 350R HE and loved it. Unfortunately read the reviews and the hype about GT500s and made the switch selling my R and buying new ’21 base. Yes a lot faster but not as fun as the R. I initially thought maybe the CFTP would be the difference so traded my base GT500 for CFTP and yes it was better than base, way faster than R but not as engaging and raw. Sold them and bought a 2020 GT350 HE and although still great definitely not as good as R. The car felt heavy, less engaging and not as athletic, also not sounding the same anyway. I just sold the GT350 and will now try to buy an R. My suggestion is don’t do it but if you decide I’ll be interested in buying yours now. There are some good deals to get your GT500 if you want to go down the same road I did.

Space—I keep my Shelby at my brothers house in the winter—he wouldn’t have room for both. And paying for storage is pricey.

But you are right—need to figure out the ”both“ option.
Buy a lift and keep both of them..
Lou

hellcats used to always try to start races in the R, now—well they still rev up. Dodge people are horrible 😂
I get more thumbs ups from Mopar and Chevy guys now in my 500 than I ever did in my 350. :D

Ok so if you look at your left hand and count left to right 1 fold a finger count 2 fold a finger then fold another finger…. That is kinda like thumb sideways isn’t it? That’s usually how they greet me 😂

Wow, AZ Mopar & Chevy guys are a tough crowd. The guys here in TX are a little more laid back. Probably has to do something with our brisket.

Love the 350, but the 500 is impressive as well. I think it comes down to what you enjoy the most. I personally wanted a blend of both cars, but that's not available (DCT + Voodoo) so I opted for the Voodoo over the DCT. The power difference was never the big concern for me after owning my GT500 and if I wanted to I could put a procharger or whipple on the GT500 and close that gap right back up.

So you could do all the things suggested...OR, take the moral high road here and just buy a GT4 from Multimatic, since they actually let people do that.

THis would of course, further obligate you to give us rides, or maybe let us drive so as not to deprive the world of the awesomeness :)

I’m fortunate to have both. I bought my 2020 CFTP before my 2020 350r.

I went to the 500 for more power and I wanted a car at the track that allowed me to focus on the track, not the car. There were way too many things for me to think about with a manual and I wanted to focus. The engineering in this car is amazing. The electronics and hardware are so on point that it truly allowed me to focus on being a better driver without worrying about being competitive with other vehicles.

Not that I mastered the 500 by any stretch of the imagination, but after one season I was ready for more.

So I picked up the 2020 350r. This car is so well balanced but on a different level with driver engagement. It’s an unbelievable track car right out of the box. But it lacks power for me. Every time I get in the car I’m wanting just a little more from it.

All that being said, buy a lift, and throw the 350r he on top!

Go buy the 500 base for straight line or pickup the cftp for road racing. You absolutely will not regret it.

But don’t sell that 350r. You will regret that.

Did you have a 350/350R before?
Yes, 2017 R, AR long tubes e85 tuned, 520whp

absolute animal. Best looking car imo. Maybe a fathouse 1000R package with built engine and clutch is the way to go but for the price I sold the car for, a base 500 was a straight up trade.

Ok so the 350R is rigid, direct, and sure footed. It will turn so hard your eyes won’t work. The 500 suspension is more like a standard 350 with mag ride in its softness and lack of rigidity. The 500 will turn at the track and the mfr pulls so hard when on the gas that soft suspension is necessary to maintain traction. You don’t steer this rig, you point it.
