I’d be venturing down the BBB and other means if they didn’t fix it or refund completely! The waves and miss cut are unbelievable
At this point I dont want them doing anything further on the car. I will just eat it and be sure to share my experience with anyone who looks for recommendations. Its a shame because I have a long list of places not to do business with however very few I will do business with.

No doubt we’re a stopover for scammers and schemers from CA going east!!

FYI this is after they went around and "fixed" all the issues.

The back of the hood where those creases were are now just cut out and it appears the edges here probably won't ever stick now.

This is their method he explained to me of "melting" the edges.

fenders not fully wrapped around the edge allowing dust and debris to attach to the film.

I brought up all my concerns and he assured me this is 100% normal. I often wonder if I am being over critical but this just seems super sloppy.

It’s completely sloppy!

IMO not acceptable.

That is terrible. This place is a certified Xpel dealer, right? Might be worth a call to them. Once they see your pics, I would think they would be appalled. I wouldn’t want a shop like this representing my product.

Yes, top dealer in 2020 I believe.

Here are more things I am seeing just now that appear sloppy to me.

Unbelievable. I can’t believe they think that’s okay. It is possible to get ppf installed that looks good. I have seen other cars with full ppf that didn’t have any glaring issues. I recently met a gentleman at a car show with a GT350R. While chatting, he mentioned it had full PPF, and we got to talking about my ppf issues. His car is black, so flaws would be very visible. He let me scrutinize his car in direct sunlight, and I literally couldn’t find one flaw. Now, I’m sure if I had detailed it under the bright LED and fluorescent lights in my garage I would have seen something. There will always be minor imperfections like a tiny bubble here and there or a piece of trapped lint, but edges peeling up with trash stuck to the ppf, wrinkles, handprints trapped under the ppf, etc is not okay.

Agree with you 100%. I spoke to a friend of mine who lives in the Carolinas and his job is to travel to train shops on PPF and tint install. He said mine wasnt a complete train wreck but it does show that it was almost to the finish line then they completely shit the bed with poor finish work. He stated since those pieces have dirt under them they should be replaced completely.

You should reach out to the XPEL corporate office here is the Scottsdale location that I used. The owner of XPEL literally works in the shop at times laying film. He would absolutely not be happy seeing a dealers work looking like that.

I contacted them to get someone to reach out to me and discuss and get an email I can send pics to.
This is the number (602) 755-0122 I can’t remember the Manager’s name but he usually answers the phone

Reading all this is scaring me a bit. First car I’m having PPF done on & I went with a semi local shop that came highly recommended by a fellow board member who’s had his cars done there as well as having his ’22 atlas blue CFTP brother to my base being done at same time as I type. But I did get a chance to chat with the owner (pictured doing the work on my car) for about an hour & he impressed me with his work ethic, car knowledge, & attention to detail. His shop didn’t have any fancy front but a warehouse with clean room & several unique projects in various stages. I’m only getting full front, mirror caps, & gloss trunk panel. And yes, they are vinyl stripes.

Randy nailed it… it’s the difference between cheaper pattern cut where the film stops short of all panel edges and either good pattern cut, or hand cut. I went with hand cut. It’s quite a bit more expensive, but you cannot see an edge anywhere on my car.
The ballers that use xpel kits they print out on the machines also have the ability to “stretch” the design to cover edges etc. that’s the best way to do it and to be honest I’d almost guarantee they did that on at least the front fascia of your car. It makes it a million times easier due to it already being somewhat formed.

It really pays to do a LOT of research to find your PPF guy. From my experience most of the big time shops with lots of social media presence suck ass. They’re using kids that don’t know anything. The guy I use (im not kidding ) is one of the best in the country/world. Was trained by one of the GOATS, 17yrs + in the game , super detailed and has a client list in the auto industry that would give some of y’all boners 🤣
We’re talking mega collections, secret warehouses and auto execs.

First off, sorry to the OP for hijacking this thread however I think its good info for anyone who is looking into it.

update on my situation I was emailing xpel and he noted that the parts that are visible are certainly needing to be replaced. the underside he said is often times unavoidable. I agree to an extent however where they cut a relief on the back of the hood was literally like cutting out a cancer and what I now see is the scar. A relief cut could have been hidden under the hood.

I messaged the shop again and let him know my irritation once again and he said the xpel rep reached out to him, he offered to replace the bumper for me since that was where the edges keep popping up and for my time he offered to detail the car while it was in... Detail the car while its in??? Seriously? I haven't put enough miles on it to make a detail worth anything at this point.

I told them im not sure I want them touching my car again and I may just count it up as a learning experience and move on.

I’d request nothing lesser than a full refund. If they don’t agree there’s always small claims or large claims court if you paid over 5k. Id then take it to XPEL in Scottsdale and have the pro’s do it. Mine was $2500 full front including A pillars and 1/3 roof line.

I may have them correct the parts that are messed up but honestly im not sure its worth my time to go to court at this point. I will lose more money spending that time going through that than I will gain by getting it back. I would love to send a message to them by doing that but I may just move on. at the least id like a refund on the bumper and hood since those are the worst areas.

Better business bureau and Google.

Sam, so it's safe to say you're happy with the work they did on your car? Can you refer the shop? Any detailed pics on the edge and areas around the stripes? Looks like a nice clean shop and owner operated is always nice imo.
