Hey what’s up guys so I bought my dream car a few months ago and it has 60k miles on it clean title and bought it running great no issues but today in the evening I was going to the store for a few groceries and I driving normal, stop at a red light and suddenly when it goes green I put my first gear and try to let of the clutch but the car seemed like it had no power when accelerating, or like the belt slips and it got worse and worse till I safely got back home. Idk what’s going on Bc I don’t know so much about this car just basic maintenance but I would really appreciate if you guys can help me find the issue because it really sucks seeing my gt500 in this condition. Even on 2 third and fourth the car has somewhat no power when pushing the pedal it just makes noise like if it’s just reving and after I let go it catches a little power any ideas ?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry about the problem. When you step on the gas, do the RPMs shoot up without a corresponding increase in MPH? If so, your clutch is toast.

That sucks, sorry to hear it but with that explanation, there could be so many different things.
If it was driving great all the way until that Green light, a total loss of power could be things like the bypass valve is stuck open.
As Goose said, it could be the clutch depending on if the car revved up and had no power.
You bought it used, was there any aftermarket things done to the car or was it fully stock?
Any check engine lights or anything?

The car is fully stock to the moment and yes I bought it used, when I bought it it was running great but little by little it would act like this but very little and I though my car was just spinning but ig not and it has no check engine light at the moment. I can really relate to what Goose said I will get it check out today !

My 2011 cooked the electric radiator fan, which basically caused the same thing. Major power loss to protect itself.

I agree with goose, sounds like the typical clutch problem. If you’re not modding for power, definitely go with the OEM clutch for longevity.
If you’re going to start adding power, I went with the McLeod RST the first time and it felt great. Now I’m using a modified RXT due to more power.
I couldn’t tell you how long they last in a daily driver but I beat the crap out of mine and it’s still just as good as the day I put it in.
