Paint protective film - cons?

I just received a quote to do my 2013 front end, hood to the heat extractor, and side mirrors of $625. I have two questions; one, is this out of range for price, and two, will this be unsightly and too noticeable? Just wondering if anyone has definite thoughts on this. Lots of gravel out where I live and just looking to do what I can to keep the chips at bay but don't want there to be some definite line in the paint after exposure to sun and waxing/washing etc.

Sorry if this is all been hashed out completely before. I am new here and just wanted some input.

What Color is your car? Dark colors tend to show wax in the seems if you're not careful about removing it with a cotton swab. That's the only con I can think of. I'm loving mine!

If you're in a gravel-heavy area, I'd go for it, the price is in-line with a quality installer... Which speaks to the "notice-ability", it's pretty stealth when applied professionally.

The wax issue is a non-issue in my opinion... Imagine the edge of the film as a curb on a road. You simply make sure that you run your waxing pad DOWN the curb/edge, but NEVER run the pad up/toward the curb/edge. If you simply do the edges first when you start waxing, always running the pad in the one direction and never cramming the pad into the edge the other direction, you won't get any wax worked into the edge that requires undue labor or technique to remove.

For seams, i.e. where two pieces butt together, I would go after those when the pad was starting to get low on wax, and run ALONG the seam instead of over it. Again, never had a problem with build-up or removal. This is all experience with Clear Bra on a black 2005 Carrera S.

Thanks for the waxing advice...hadn't thought of that. This won't happen until the first week of July as the car won't be here until end of June at best. The installer wants to talk to me prior to get exactly what I want done and I will be able to see some of his work. Apparently this is all he does so it should be quality. Windows will be tinted at the same time by another guy in the same shop who does nothing but tint work. All side windows plus back glass for $225. The car is Grabber Blue so hopefully this is a light enough color that the clear film will not be very apparent and the tint should be a good contrast against the blue. Pretty excited about it as it's about one month away now from me being able to turn the key and smile!

No, it comes off clean and the only difference you'll notice is any imperfections from the unprotected paint.

Key to having a clear bra look good for a long time is waxing it at least once every month if you drive a lot or every few months if you store/limit miles.

I've put this on every car I've owned and it is worth every penny. When I traded in my 09 370Z on the GT500 the dealer could not believe how nice my car was, not a single blemish on the front or sides of my car.

This is priority one on my GT500, I am now trying to hunt down someone to have this done Friday, so far no luck :-(

How long should it last...I've heard about it going yellow over time.

I've also been looking at Xpel...this stuff heels its self when it gets scratched.
More costly then the 3M I think.

Hardage...are you getting your headlights done as well?

Here's a close up of the front end of my car with the film already applied... (completely unnoticeable in the photo!)

Others are saying ensure you wax to stop the yellowing.

I just found a guy that will do my paint protection & tint job the day my car arrives. Hes offloading his 3M and going with Xpel, the self healing film.
I've opted for the Xpel, even though I could save a buck with the 3M.

Well, turns out yours is a great price! Everyone and I mean everyone in my area is quoting $950 ouch!!!! I do have one friend who's shop does the clear bra however, I'm not holding my breath after speaking to several other shops. I am bummed that my previous contact no longer does the clear bra because he used to do great work and he was very cheap. I hate to spend nearly $1000 but in the long run it really does pay off.

Wow! What a great job! When I was driving up to Carlisle it was a bit nerve wrecking when any type of debris would get kicked up. I like the full panel job they did, I would love to do that but apprently, the people in my area have gone crazy when it comes to pricing :(
