There is a new tech in town, and it's called ProEFI. Right now a plug and play kit is not available for the 2011+ GT500s but that is coming in 2014 (besides the 2013 driving seasion is almost over). It will be a very easy plug and play kit into the ECU plus a few sensors.
What does this amazing kit do? It will compare the front wheel speed with the rear wheel speed and control boost and pull timing to prevent wheel spin. Check out youtube videos on "proefi" to see cars launch as if they were AWD.
We all know that GTR drivers don't need to know how to drive. The computers launch the thing for you and shift for you. It's frustrating for a GT500 owner competing with a computer. So if you can't beat em, join them!
Kind of takes the fun out of learning how to launch, but for those who want the fastest car out there without getting an automatic GTR - this is the ticket. Plus - the thing can be switched off (you can have 5 different tunes that you can switch between with a cabin-installed knob!!!!!) so if you wanted to, you could still launch manually.
Pretty cool. You can have a conservative longevity tune for daily driving, and a almost-kill-your-engine tune for lining up against others. I like the idea of having a "take it to 11" knob in the car.
