It’s the same way in Texas. If your state doesn’t have a net metering law, the power company will pay you jack shit for your energy you sell back to them and screw you when you have to buy energy. I plan on buying unimproved land in Texas way out in the country and am seriously considering going completely off grid. It’s expensive to do initially—about 50k for the solar array, batteries, inverters, charge controllers, etc., and that’s doing the work myself, but once your equipment is paid for, your power costs you zero except for maintenance/repair parts. That’s really appealing.
That 50,000 would pay a lot of electric bills

All insurance went up catastrophically. I got a quote from American Class Car insurance for same coverage I have now and it come to a little of $500 in savings, BUT they only allow 2500 miles per year. I have a '22 Shelby GT500 Heritage Carbon Fibre Gold Ticket. I have just over 1700 on it in a year and a half but don't want to be restricted. It's crazy.
I have the 2,500 mile limit on my 08 with JC Taylor. Saved me over $500. I'm fine with that as it doesn't get anywhere near the 2,500 a year. When you insure 7 cars, every little bit helps. I did all the research to save money myself, my agent did nothing.
