Fuel line over SC.

Anybody notice any wear from what looks like rubbing on top of the fuel line? I'm not sure what its from but to me it could only be rubbing on hood insulation. It is a flat spot with definately wear. I looked at a 2010 and it had similar wear marks. Thinking about putting a wire cover/loom over it. Just surprised that this would be the case from the factory.

Was happening on mine also, decided to change the fuel rails and upgraded to BPS Billet Rails along with hose kit to go around rather than over the top. The look is much cleaner.
Funny thing is they don't rub on all of them. Maybe FORD QC is not catching hoses of different lengths being installed.

I appreciate your post quicksilver. I was hoping for others to chime in to figure a fix or what others did. I don't have the coin to drop on fuel rails as the hose from Ford seems to only come with fuel rails. Thanks Ford. Hope others read it and go and check there's. I know I can probably go to a speed shop and pick up a hose but I'm sure it will rest on the sc. Not sure I want that.

I've got a '13. Mine wasn't rubbing the stock hood, but when I added the strut tower brace it was right in the way. I had the option to tuck it under, or let it ride in front of the brace. Both of which still rub the line. It has a factory protective cover over the line so I'll just keep an eye on it.
Running the hose in front of the SC would be ok I guess. I'm wondering if you threw a blower belt would you be in trouble with the fuel hose? A steel line would probably be too rigid & not do well with vibrations.
Interesting point Tightlines, I've never seen it brought up.

Hey,
exactly what mine was doing also.
But do notice on yours that the hose looks straight though, mine had a kink on it on both sides to take some of the loose in it. When you look at the hose from the right or left of the car is it going straight up in a straight line or has a bend in it?
My original was a bare hose non covered, when I upgraded to a 13 TVS the hose came covered with a protector. But it was still rubbing on the hood and strut tower.

There is two bends in the fuel line to clear the sc. Straight up from the fuel rail then a 45 bend, straight then another 45 bend to a straight line over the sc.

I have seen the 2013 hoses, they are covered.

Hey Hardage,
See my BPS rails also.Cool. The look is def cleaner. Any pic of yours? You get black or polished?

Tightlines,
if you have those slight bends then yeah I guess Ford is not cutting all of them at equal lengths, thus making some turn out too high and rubbing on the inside of the hood.Bummer.
Small things like this tend to get at ya,,believe me, I know and deal with shit like this on a daily basis as I work in QAQC.
sending you PM.

I have black ones. I have an engine bay shot but they are tough to spot.

I will try to get a good shot later today. My car is in the shop getting a new EGR valve put on.

I do have this pic of Goose17 screwing around "at work" though. Thank God for the autopilot feature!

I had my brace chrome plated. I dont have a close pic, but you can see the fuel line sticking out like a sore thumb! I looked @ your link, those BPS rails look clean. Iv'e got the aluminum tanks on order, they would match the rails perfect! Approx how much are the rails?

don't mean to steal your thread Tightline,,
these threads sometimes develop.

To answer the rails question,If am not mistaking BPS has a special on them.complete kit with hoses and fittings, was cheap..the quality is exceptional. Will look for exact price but had a Steeda HE installed same time,so the price was all inclusive.

Well Tightlines, next time we have $259 bucks to throw at the car, I think this is the way to go. I pulled up BPS site & checked it. Clean look & no fuel line on top to worry about. Thanks for the link qs, they look good!

I did check it out. Looks like $259 is just for the rails. Need to add in fuel line kit and adapters which looks to be over $400.

Hope the dealer can take dare of this for me. We shall see.

I'm going to see if I can talk to the dealer and see what they will do first. $259 is not horrible as the ones I was looking at where over $500. Can you post a link to said rails and fuel line?

Btw, thread derailment can turn into a good thing once in awhile. :)

Thanks guys,
Paul

Hey Danno. Mine is the FRPP 2010 Shelby M-20201. I bought mine from a forum member & had it chromed. Last time I checked they were discontinued. JLT makes a single bar strut. Last week Pat, aka MustangLoco said he had a JLT one for sale. PM him if interested. I'd jump on it, they go quick. Or go to JLT site & see if they still carry them. Good luck either way. They dress up the under hood well.

Just an update. Got a call from the dealership that they ordered and recieved the entire line and rails. There is now a sleeve over the fuel line to protect. It will be covered under warranty as well. Now to schedule time to get the car there.
