Found a tracking device in my truck (RecovR)

Found a tracking device in my truck. I’m not sure where this thing came from, but I was running wires under the carpet and this fell from inside the dash. Definitely does not make me happy it’s there. Seems like this is getting more and more common. I know I saw a couple threads pretty recently about other members finding similar crap.

Put it on your dig's collar and let them track him. That should confuse them a little bit.

Yeah, I did some reading and it seems like you guys are right. This tracking company caters to dealers. It’s part of the “polyrazmataz” crap dealers stick on cars to gouge more money out of their customers (more like victims really). The dealer that originally sold my truck to the first owner is infamous for adding every kind of these things. You should see the god awful undercoating job they did. They charge $1500 for this “protection package” that consists of a couple spray cans of something that looks like black spray paint and some kind of spray on ceramic. They charge another $1500 for the tracker with 3 years of service. They got most of the undercoating in the fenders on the plastic liners that would never rust and the rest of it on one side of the DPF. One side is black and the other side is completely silver. Lol. It took my detailer an extra few hours to get all the overspray off the paint from their half assed job. They didn’t even fasten the tracker to anything. It literally was just shoved up in the dash. It hit me on the head when it fell down from me jostling the wire harnesses around.
When I was looking for a Raptor, my local dealer had a used one in the spec/color I wanted, with some nice aftermarket upgrades by the prior owner. I've bought several cars from them over the years, and I bought my last Shelby from them, with zero issues. I was highly disappointed to see their used car sales has fallen into the "tack on every thing we can charge extra for" game. They wanted a couple thousand extra for GPS tracking, paint protection, blah, blah, blah. I told them I wanted the tracker removed, and when I pressed them about what the glorious "paint protection" included, I couldn't get a straight answer. I ended up walking out. I found a better deal on the same truck (minus the aftermarket stuff) a couple hours south of me at a smaller dealer. No add-ons, no B/S, for several thousands less, and delivered to my door. Really sad the games dealers play these days.
