It’s 70 and sunny here... perfect for some topless fun! The wife helped me remove the hardtop for the 1st time and we took the 95 “2-top” vert out for our maiden voyage. We spent a good hour+ driving with no particular destination in mind. It was good to get some sun!

I am happy to report that the front end creak/squeak was solved by my recent power steering bushing project. Found a new problem though... the convertible soft top would not raise. I’ll dig into that problem later...

Nice Tim,
Maybe the wife should be driving some of the cars when your out flying around ?

Nice sunny day here ( Kootney’s BC) but not top down weather yet, pretty Fn cold in the shade to be honest.

thanks for sharing your toys

Looks great!! I feel stupid for asking, but you did have the e-brake set when you tried to raise the top, right?

Fair question Rick and yes, I had it set. I’ll dig into this and figure it out eventually. In the meantime, I have a 95 ONE-top vert!

Well... learned something new today! The previous owner texted me out of the blue today and I mentioned the soft top wasn’t working. He asked if I reconnected the plug! ?

This is specific to the 499 cars of this one year... there is a plug on the hardtop that gets power to the dome light and rear window defrost. I unplugged that when I removed the top. What I didn’t notice is there is a plug in a pouch right next to the recepticle. This interrupts power to the soft top! I guess the Ford engineers did this to prevent people trying to raise their soft top with the hardtop in place. Since none of my other cars had this rare feature, I didn’t know... now I do!

So now it works? Sneaky Ford engineers!
Yes it does... works as advertised! I had even pulled out my Ford service manuals for my 96 Mystic Cobra. I found the wiring diagram and troubleshooting steps for the vert top. Troubleshooting was much more involved than I wanted to get into at that point so I put off the project. I’m glad the seller sent me the timely text because that hidden plug was not in the 96 manuals!
