Ok, it is getting time for tires. I may do wheels now, and I may wait til later. I am leaning toward the Steeda Spyders because they have the 11" rears which fit the 305/30/20 Toyo T1Rs nicely. Below is a chart of tires with the tire size, height, width, rim width, and treadwear.

Steeda recommended the INVOs which are an inch taller than stock (stock is 27"), but something about that worries me. Any thoughts?
I would like to do 19s, but the only way to do that is buy CCW wheels, and something about $3000 for wheels bothers me too.
I would really prefer a Shelby wheel, and really like the CS40s, but they seem like they would be such a pain to clean (I know dukenrock got the 305 T1Rs on them somehow too). I really wish they went wider than 10" too, because I'm sure as time goes on, the tire manufacturers will start catering to the wide tires.

I have the CS40s and I just got the Nitto Invos 295/35 and 245/40. I had the Toyo Proxes 295/30 and 255/35 and honestly the ride was extremely harsh.. plus I have the Tokicos dialed to soft and still didn't help.. and the CS40 rims are really easy to clean.. this size tire fills everything out nicely..

Also, I would be cautious of the Alcoas. I ordered a set from Shelby and they said they were on back order because the manufacturer of the rims had to remake the cast for the rims.. apparently the spokes were a little too narrow.. maybe they got some reported cracked rims.. but can't confirm that piece.. so of course I canceled my order.. see my pics..

Another option is to wait and get a set of takeoff 19s from a 2010 model..

A lot of people prefer the 20" look.. rotating mass "problems" over 18" bla bla bla.. its splitting hairs unless its a pure track car.. millions of ways to improve performance on these cars instead of worrying about the difference between an 18 or 20.. this includes improving the driver's skills.. if you like the 20" look then go with it.. just a matter of preference..

BJ, Looking to replace my tires, on my 2008 Shelby, stock, I have about 8200 miles on them, they are slipping sliding on the daily drive.

Looking for something thats good winter and summer. Whats your thoughts on that approach, or do I need to plan on two sets.

I am thinking about just getting some 2010 rims all 4 same size and going that way

What do you think.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw they killed those sizes. I'll probably look at Michelin or Yokahama when it's time to replace street tires.

Continental ExtremeContact DW 285/40/18

Better traction than stock, darn close to the performance of Mich. PS2 (only loses in hard cornering area - wins every where else), better tread wear than both OEM and Mich., and only half the price. Read the reviews on tire rack.

The 100K+ Porsche guys love them.

I switched out my Goodyears to Michelin PS2s -- a huge difference -- they have been great for daily driving duties. And they have stock sizes if you want as well.

I just put a set of the Steeda Spyders on mine with the 20x11's in the back with 325/25 michelin sports. I'm really happy with them so far. They actaully ride nice even with the 25 sidewall. Tires aren't cheap!

A friend has Nitto DR on the rear of a 04 fully mod cobra. Not sure how many miles the 555R are good for he doesn't drag race and drives his car 10 times a year so they look like new. He went with them because he couldn't find a street tire to hook up. Riding with him first still doesn't really hook up but 2nd it is pulling and spinning some and third it is solid. I am in the same boat wanting tires and rims. Have 2K right now for rims and waiting on tax money than I think of all the stuff I could buy instead of $ 3500.00 for rims... I am leaning heavy on TF rims and in Feb or March there is going to be a sale on them.

I have had the Nitto 555s on the CS rims for a couple of weeks now. Unlike the Gooryears the reer end no longer is sliding all over the place. Definitely work better in the cold weather. The Goodyears were fine in the summer. Looking forward to warmer weather to make a furthur comparison.
