Cockpit is the old-school term still widely used. Flight deck is the updated term. Here is my list of 100 applicable jokes:

Yes! Here are a couple of stock internet shots. There are “cans” for the upper (main) deck (where people would sit if it was a people carrier and cans for the lower decks (where people’s baggage and cargo are loaded if it was a people carrier):

If it is shipping ground, it will make it there within a week. If it was shipped air, it will take about 9 seconds to reach your house from time of shipping. :cool:

My flight last night/this morning was labeled a “time critical flight.” I pushed the power up on the jet and with our kick’n tailwind we had at 37,000 feet, we hit 700 mph!🤟

We don’t work in gallons... our gauges are all in pounds, since weight plays a big role in aviation. Fuel consumption from jet engines vary wildly based on power setting, altitude, speed and weight. If memory serves me correctly, we are burning somewhere around 30,000 lbs/hr while taking off and about 11000 lbs/hr while cruising at altitude give or take. Jet fuel weighs about 6.5 lbs/gal so while cruising at altitude, we are burning roughly 1700 gallons per hour.

All of this is computed by our dispatchers and sent to me as a flight release. I just have to assess the weather, airport issues, aircraft issues and cargo load to see if the game plan is smart or needs tweaking.

Here is the first part of my last flight’s release. You can see I had 41,000 lbs of fuel on the jet to start. I was planned to burn 13,366 lbs to fly to my destination and arrive there with 27,054 lbs remaining on the aircraft. This is called “tankering fuel,” which we do when gas is cheaper at the departure airport and more expensive at the destination airport.

The cargo load ended up being higher than planned, which put me over 300,000 lbs at takeoff... this causes the jet to burn more gas (heavier jet needs more lift to stay aloft and lift = “induced drag.” Since I had so much extra fuel already on the jet, the added weight was a non-factor.

Tail End Tuesday!

I took this on Sunday... the head of Ford Performance marketing was in town and took this CFTP on a local cruise with a group of us. I used my tool kit to adjust his wing to the “cool kid” setting.:cool:

I know a Shelby GT500 is not a Cobra, but the plate frame was a gift....one that I simply had to put on the car, if you get my drift. So I went with that theme with the plate.
