Congratulations to @Rjstevens for being FordGT500’s February ‘19 ROTM! Here is his story and his unmistakable 2013:

Allow me to start by saying a huge thank you to all on the Ford GT 500 forum. In the short time I have been a member I have gained a wealth of knowledge, receive great counsel, and have enjoyed the hours I have spent reading the posts. It is hard to believe that I’ve become a part of this forum and I am absolutely honored to be considered for the ride of the month. Thank you!

I have entered into a whole new vehicle dimension with the purchase of my 2013 Shelby GT500. I have always had a love for muscle cars, growing up with friends that had 1968 and 1969 Camaros. I remember being dismayed when my brother-in-law traded his 69 Camaro for a 78 Firebird espirit.

My first car was a 77 Monte Carlo, and my second car a 1975 Camaro. Among other cars that I have owned, another one I really enjoyed was my 1987 Iroc-z. However after getting married in 1998, having kids, and settling down, muscle cars was not on my priority list. Here it is 20+ years later with an 18-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter. They always talked about wanting Mustangs so for Christmas 2017 I surprised my daughter with a 2008 Mustang V6 and my son with a 2002 Mustang GT. My son’s car had a few mods on it such as a cold air intake, 3.73 gears, H pype with M 80s, nitto 555 tires, and I added a tune. I have enjoyed that car so much every now and then I let him drive, LOL?. Needless to say I have been bitten by the musclecar bug again.

It was Thanksgiving of this past year that my kids told me I needed a Mustang. I told them if I owned one I would like a GT500 at which point my son began to show me pictures of some of the dealerships close by here in Indianapolis. With no real intentions to buy a vehicle, we went to a dealership that had three of them there. As I walked through the doors of the dealership, I saw one that I told my kids “I would own that one right there”, and now I do (imagine that). While the purchase is history, I have to credit my children Seth and Sarah for their recommendations and my wife Isela for her approval (it’s good to have that).?

-X4 tuner with a tune from [email protected]

I received the recommendation about BJ on this forum, and I am so glad I listened. He is very knowledgeable, and patient especially with ignorant people as myself. BJ is an awesome individual and I highly recommend him. My car is running excellent and we will do the final tune in the spring when the roadways warm-up and I can do some WOT! I can’t wait. ?

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Ron

Congrats on being chosen for car of the month! Great color! Did the car have the Cobra application on it when you bought it? Certainly grabs your attention! Some nice mods on the car and it makes it unique for you. Enjoy your ride! Spring is coming!!

Congrats on ROTM! You call yourself a rookie but your list of mods proves not. As you know the mod bug doesn't go away. If i could only stay away from this forum. Lol! Enjoy that sweet ride.

Congrats. Beautiful jewelry box. Any issues with that strut tower brace rubbing? I really want one of those but have heard of rubbing issues so I never pounced on one when they come up for sale.

Congrats on being selected for ROTM! I love that you purchased mustangs for your son and daughter before you purchased your Gt500! The graphics and mods look fantastic! I agree, BJ is the way to go, he will save you money in the long run.

I have not seen any signs of the tower brace rubbing. There is only 6000 miles on the car and I don’t believe it has been driven hard at all.

Yes the car had the cobra graphics on it when I purchased it. One of the many things that really attracted me to it.
:surprise:

I really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. I have gained a wealth of knowledge. Truly love this forum!
