Had a nail in a rear tire which I had plugged. The tire place that I have gone to for years say it will be fine for track use. Any opinions on this? Still lots of tread left on the tire and the plug is not heat a side wall and in a crease between the tread.

The place I use to patch tires does an outstanding job. I would not hesitate to do anything with a tire they have fixed including track days.

Mine is a plug and not a patch which Michelin does not endorse according to that link. Maybe I should get it patched rather than plugged. Thanks for posting that.

They ended up doing a plug/pach for me. Have never heard of that. It is a plug attacked to a patch so you pull the plug through and then the patch is glued down.
I am all set for Sebring on Saturday.

I actually request the plug patch its the best of both! Doesn’t leave a hole and the rubber wears with the tire.
