2008 GT500 47k miles, No reverse gear, had some grinding going on and then randomly backed out of my driveway (no issues or grinding then) drove about 5 miles, sat in a parking lot for about 15 minutes. And I haven’t had reverse since. Acts like it’s not even there. No engagement no clunk. Can leave it in reverse and get out of the car. Praying it’s not a synchro however starting to look like it judging by other forums I’ve seen. Any other thoughts or confirmation of the fear?

Could be a linkage issue with the shifter. Turn the car off, move to reverse, then start the car with the clutch in and the car in reverse. If this doesn't work it's more likely a linkage or internal selector lever issue as I'm not sure reverse is synchronized anyway.

I agree with Kyle. I don’t have any experience working on the internals of your specific trans, but the manuals I’ve seen are not synchronized in reverse. It’s unnecessary since you are always at a stop when engaging reverse. Even if it was a synchro issue, you should be able to get it in gear easily if the engine isn’t running like when you have cone synchro issues in any other gear. I would bet good money you’ve just got a linkage issue like something popped off, broken bushing, spring, etc. causing the reverse interlock to fail.

Okay! I will update this thread when the issue is found, thank you! Would the reverse lockout solenoid be causing any issues?
Does this trans have a lockout solenoid? If so, that could definitely cause this issue. Forgive me—I don’t have any specific experience with this trans so I can only give my opinion based on many years of wrenching on many different cars.

Does it feel like the shifter is going into the reverse gate when the car is off, or does it feel like it's being blocked? Unless it feels like it's being blocked, there's a good chance it's the lock out solenoid. If it does feel like it's going into the gate and you're not getting any movement, it sounds like it would be the gear.

Well okay this may be a dumb moment. But car completely off it does block me, but key on and it’ll let me access reverse
It sounds like the solenoid is working, then. Does it actually go in reverse? Or is it just letting the shifter go in the reverse position? Try putting it in reverse with the key on and the engine off. Then push the clutch in, start the car, and see if it will actually move in reverse.

No dice there. There’s no indication at all that it’s grabbing reverse unfortunately

The lock out solenoid is just a bayonet type device to keep the shifter out of the reverse gate while the car is in motion. It could get jammed or stopped functioning and keep you out of the gate, but if you can get it in the gate and there's no movement, I think someone is going to have to go in the transmission. It could be a shifter problem, but I think it would be giving you grief in other gears.

There is no external linkage to examine, the TR6060 only has one link and all else is internal, is this correct?

R
Unfortunately correct, the linkage is internal inside the transmission, therefore I’m gonna take apart mine to see the failure as I’ve found out from my friends Viper that this a common issue

I am having a very similar issue with my 2011 with 46k miles. I was parked in my driveway and left car running while I ran back in the house to grab something I forgot, came back out and tried to reverse outta my driveway. Car made a very loud "pop" and reverse was no longer a gear I could access. Did you ever determine the issue that you were having with urs??

Well crap Jennifer! Sorry for the troubles. I used our quote feature for Sean. Hopefully he gets an alert and comes back to tell us what the issue was.
