As many have also done I wanted to improve the looks of the rear brake system on my 2011 GT500. There are a few options out there, some pretty inexpensive, some not so. Originally I added a set of MGP caliper covers that covered the factory caliper. This looked a better, but was just lipstick on a pig so to speak.

Last summer I did a big upgrade to the fronts (2019 GT350R calipers and rotors) that made a BIG difference in the stopping power and feel over the 14" / 4 piston Brembo setup than came on the car. Here's the link to my thread on this upgrade: 2007 - 2014 - 2011 Front Brake caliper / rotor upgrade (GT350 parts)

With the fronts looking and working better, I decided to make the rears look and perform a bit better as well. I went the less expensive route with these: 2013/2014 rear rotors (13.8" dia vs: the 2011 11.8" dia) & caliper relocation brackets. I also added a little bling with some laser etching on the flat area between the wheel hub and the business area of rotor.

Here's the parts:

New Rotor / After (with a snake peeking through the spokes):

Caliper relocation bracket (came in bare aluminum, I had them black anodized):

I didn't install the MGP caliper covers again. Might paint them red to match the front Brembos.

Pictured on the machine after doing the laser etching of the left side rotor. I mirror imaged the graphics for doing the right side.

Thanks for the nice comments.
It’s taken me forever to get around to etching the rotors (I’ve had them for almost 2 years). Made some time last week to finally get them done and put it all together Saturday.

Continuing my brake upgrade project:
Added some covers to my rear calipers. At least color-wise they match the GT350R calipers I’ve got on the front.

Those laser etched rotors are frigg’n AWESOME Ted!

I’m not feeling the “Cobra covers” though.
I know what you mean about the covers...the jury is still out.
Up close I don’t like them, from a distance when you can see the red front and rear calipers at the same time I like how it pulls things together.

That makes perfect sense Ted. Good explanation. I might like them more if they didn’t have the word “Cobra” on them. This would be a Shelby Cobra:

Ted
that engraving is off the chart incredible.

I upgraded my brakes as well and consider the GT 350 brakes but figured they were too massive for my wheels.
I also have the 14 inch brake upgrade in the back which helps fill out my 20 inch rims And use the aluminum extender bracket that you used as well

The fronts I went with the 19 bullet mustang 6 piston calipers in red

not as impressive as your GT 350 calipers but Still a significant upgrade for my 07

Thanks Don. I’m very happy with how things turned out.
I followed your saga on the upgrade you did. The 6 piston Bullitt calipers are top notch and that setup looks great on your car!
