Would you drive on it or replace it? It is not down to the core.

I just "unboxed" a set of base GT500 wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires for my '21 CFTP, (trying to preserve the carbon fiber wheel and yes, I have the necessary spacers for using the base wheels) from The Wheel Exchange and noticed this damage to the one inside sidewall.

Hard to tell how deep it is. I assume it’s not leaking air. If it’s not too deep, I’d probably run it, but I wouldn’t do any high speed runs nor take it to the track.

Yeah, I agree with Tim. I don’t think you’ll have issues tooling around with it, but I wouldn’t want to do 150+ on that one.

Thanks Goose. Not leaking and is about a 1/8th deep flap of loose rubber, no cord is showing. I just cringe with sidewall cuts...

Not a fan of side wall damage especially on car tires, I would have a tire shop look at it.....but would be leery on using it.

Run it, it’s very close to the bead. That area is reenforced and is extra thick. Does not look deep at all in pick of you pulling on it. I’d run it just like a new tire

Ask yourself if the cost of one tire is worth your peace of mind vs the potential costs of a tire failure. As much as I’d hate to do it, it’s really a no-brainer to me. But it’s your car…
