Make Supercharger Whine Louder?

1208 Views 56 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  Evolvd
I recently purchased a 2022 GT500 and I noticed that the supercharger whine wasn’t anywhere near as loud as others, like the hellcat. I was wondering if there was any way to make the whine sound louder. I’m looking for something that will make the whine be heard from the inside and outside (not looking for any mod that pumps the sound into the interior). Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Mine has a low whistling and I love it! Only heard when the windows are down. My Shelby F150 on the other hand is a screaming beast 🤣

Great for adding additional sound, but does require some irreversible modifications to your firewall I believe.

I want this like yesterday. My 03 cobra with ported blower whines very loud and makes my gt500 feel like we are in a Cadillac.

I’ve read multiple places, including this thread, that the billet lid makes a difference too. Never seen a before and after vid to prove it, though. I’ve looked for one to order myself to try it but they seem to be perpetually out of stock.

I will be selling mine as I went with a VMP lid to fit my oversized VMP IC. It’s color matched rapid red though so you’d have to strip it and paint it a color that goes with your car.

Color matched rapid red, you say?! I saw the VMP one but was wondering if you could do a straight swap without messing with a different intercooler. I was going to research more tomorrow.

I prefer the bare aluminum look. I’d be your buyer for sure if it wasn’t painted, but returning it to the original state would probably exceed what a new one would cost. Looks like Tony might take it off your hands anyway. Looking forward to those videos. I’ve been working pretty much nonstop for a month, so I’ll be itching to waste some money when I get home. Lol. Time to make this beast even more insane. :)

I have the KONG even with the lid closed I can hear the whine, but maybe not as much as others who took off there lids, If you get a Kong you can have something like this done

Wow she looks gorgeous!… I am new to the modding scene so I apologize if this question sounds amateur. Will removing the lid affect anything negatively? I think I am going with the Kong and would like to make sure before I try anything out.

Lots of discussions about this on the forum. Some say it helps with power and whine. Others say it gives artificial higher dyno numbers with the hood and intake box both open. There is also a discussion about warmer engine bay air going into the intake with the lid off.

Those that have swapped to aftermarket intakes all seem to like them.

Sounds bad frigg’n ass!

ThanksTim, yes I immediately fell in love with the sound and its there throughout the power band in manual mode as you get up in the RPMs and on the downshifts 😁

Did you ever do a thread here on this mod?

No, honestly I’m still a noob and a rookie on the fourms.

You just go to the appropriate section… in this case, Non Performance Mods and make a thread. Others can then read about it. It helps others contemplating this mod.

another way to get a loud whine... tie a cats tail to the belt.... won't last too long but it will be one hell of a whine !

Okay, so I'm a sick puppy.

Absolutely badass! Do you have a billet lid too? Would love to hear some interior videos making pulls too. I’m currently trying to figure out what mods I want to start with. I’m not looking for crazy numbers. I’d be happy with a couple hundred more HP and a LOT more blower whine. I’m not sure if I really need the lid or not.

I watched some videos on that mod, and I could her a sucking air type sound at light throttle. I’m not sure if it was just an artifact of the video or if the sucking noise was really that prevalent. Do you notice anything with yours?

You won't hurt anything running with no lid, But I honestly Like a closed system which was another reason I went with the Kong. While the lid was being airbrushed I kept the stock system in place.

I have never ran my car without the lid. The Kong is pricier then other CAI systems, but IMO the look and it being a closed system is worth the extra cash

Thank you for the kind words Sebastian🙏
