I found 5x7 to 6.5 speaker adapters that work well unlike the "universal" ones I tried...and paid more for. I mounted a set of JL Audio 6.5s on the rear deck without issue using the adapters on ebay. The adapters are made out of 1/4 thick PVC and were spot on fitment wise with no modification necessary. I suspect they will work on the front doors as well you would just need to verify the depth of the speaker. Here is the link http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Speaker-Adapters__W0QQ_armrsZ1 with the description below. If the link doesn't work, search ebay for the seller mjmautoinnovations. The name of the ebay store is Car-Speaker-Adapters.com

Let's you replace 5x7" / 6x8" factory speakers with 6½" aftermarket speakers

5½" cutout houses most 6½" speakers with no modification

Brand New

Utilizes existing vehicle mounting points, and requires no cutting or drilling

Kit includes 2 adapters plus hardware

Allows for reinstallation of factory grills

Guaranteed not to rattle

1/4" thick PVC is tough as nails

Will not rot like MDF or wood

CNC machined plates ensure an accurate fit

Just a straight swap for now. I have 8" subs for the doors but I have not installed them yet - need to get a few things first. Then I'll use secondskin sound damper and luxury liner :)
