A little back story on the one in my 2011... this was the FIRST one with both snakes facing forward! When I went to find a custom shift knob in 2012, all of the snakes on the sides faced right, just like the “official” Shelby snake. This put the left snake facing towards the back of the car. I first tried Speed Dawg and they simply said it wasn’t possible to get a forward facing snake on the left side. I then went straight to the manufacturer: Epco. I called them and inquired. They took my info and said they would have to check if they were allowed to change the direction and get back to me. Some time later, I got a call that the all-forward snake design was approved! Of course these are commonplace now, but here is the first. I later added a shift boot retainer. These are old pics.
Thanks. Yea, I wanted something a little different, that was weighed and that would hopefully give a little more grip than normal smooth ones. This one was a little over 1lb, was able to get the newer GT500 on it like I wanted and the wrinkled texture has a bit of grip but doesn't feel like skateboard paper lol. Pretty happy with it overall.
My current set up, a custom Black Super Snake ball with the Shelby stick.......
I am working on an install of the MGW cylindrical Gripper ball shown below with the Shelby snake topper. Currently this MGW ball has the M12X1.25 thread insert/stem which is standard MGW and oem 2007-2009 GT500. I need to contact MGW and get the M12X1.75 thread insert/stem for the Shelby stick. I may grab Pewter and Silver along with the Black so I can do a "quick change" of shifter ball look.....but that Snake on top is the cool part!......
.............with the current Black M12X1.25 insert/stem.....
^^^^^If I decide to change to the round Gripper ball, the Snake insert will work in the top of it also..
Tim - I guess when I scan down through the balls in this thread, most look rather "Manly", and then there is one that stands out (not "sticks" out) as being......well.......rather "Girly"..................LOL!!!
Anderson Composites lent a hand to dress-up the 2020 Dream Giveaway GT500. Here is a look at the mods plus some spirited driving at about the 21 minute mark. I got a chuckle at his reactions... I have had the same! 😱 🤟
There have been some discussions in the past related to adding a backup camera to the 2007-2009 GT500. Can some of you who have done this upgrade add your thoughts and ideas to this thread?
Wanted to jazz things up a bit and the price and function were perfect for me. Went on lickity split and no problems at all. Heavier than the stock wheel and more substantial in my hands. I like it, but it feels weird for now. I like the look better than the stock one.
