Since I can’t leave well-enough alone (and the fact that I love red on black) I had to update the interior of my car. Door panels and center console stripes will also be replaced with red and my visors will get re-covered to get rid of the annoyingly oversized airbag warning stickers.
Yes the leather is wrinkled, this is quite normal with new leather and it will tighten up over time, hence why I have them out in the sun to speed up the process.

I wish they had color options like that from Ford... Looks good! DIY installs are tough when you don't have some extra foam and a steamer to remove all of the wrinkles but you saved yourself at least $1000!

I didn’t do it myself lol. This was done at a local upholstery shop. I’ve seen their work on another mustang and those katzkin covers were nice and tight after a month or so. The owner assured me mine will stretch out over time as well. Even the Katzkin ones Shelby uses on their SE/KR seats will have wrinkles for awhile. Nature of working with leather.

Give it a week and take them back to get fixed - I'm just really particular with things like this and I like them to look perfect. I showed it to my dad, who has been doing upholstery for 40 years now, and he said it will only get worse. They should have used a steamer in the process and generally a filler foam to make it look right.

This was done last week for a Corvette with premade covers as well. It should look smooth with only the creases from packaging, which will go away.

I spoke with the shop owner (who by the way has also been doing upholstery his whole life and got the shop from his father who also did it his whole life) and he said give it 4-6 weeks for it to stretch out. If it hasn’t completely resolved I am to bring it by and they’ll steam whatever is left.

Your seats look good in red, no clue why Ford offers only 1 color..

Both look amazing, especially considering the OEM seats. I may look into this..thanks, E and Tony. Man, that 'Vette seat brings back memories.

Lol if they did I’m sure it would be another reason for dealers to jack their prices up more.

Thanks Tim, I just hope it all stretches out smooth lol. My new steering wheel came in and the leather is a very close match so I’m happy about that too.

Looks great. We had a set on our 2016 Tundra for about 5 years and never once had an issue with them over about 60,000 miles of usage including a toddler and dogs.

Red cobra embroidery: Katzkin or local shop?

Keep setting them in the sun and all the wrinkles will disappear. I replaced the whole interior on the wife’s Raptor with the interior from the previous year that was all leather instead of the partial cloth she hated. That was an enormous pain in the ass. I’ll never do that myself again. There were wrinkles everywhere that I spent hours steaming out of the front seats. I set the back seat outside in direct sun for a couple consecutive days and they looked just as good as the fronts.

Local shop
If Ford offered it as an option, they'd probably charge $10,000 for the option and then subcontract it out with hit or miss results.

Just saying...
