It appeared there were professional camera and news media crews also filming so this guys face should be on the news soon. Unless it was a stunt.

There was no reason for the driver to get out and pick up the ramps, there were other people there to do things like that.

They want to show the 'new KITT' to distance themselves from the "TV Movie" as they call it. So this was their way to get it in YouTube and publicize the car, and the series launch.
