GT500 Recaro Scuffs on Bolster

328 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Tonys_GT500
I did a quick search and couldn’t find anyone who specifically talked about the bolsters wearing on the 2020 to 2022 GT500. In the below picture, you can see that there is a scuff from somebody’s jeans or something in their pocket as they were getting in the car. I often see these bolsters very beat up from people getting in and out of the car. Has anybody come up with a solution to repair the leather that looks OEM?

Yes, it’s called a warranty claim 😜

Many of us have had it replaced. It’s a common issue.

Moved your thread here to the problems section.

The Recaro bolsters are stout! They stick out quite a bit. They will wear like this if you rub on them getting in/out. I suggest “plopping in” and grabbing the door frame by the mirror to pull yourself up/out to minimize wear.

You could always get a little dye… test in an inconspicuous area and then fix it yourself.

I put my hand in that spot and allow my body to slide across it instead of the bolster.

Mine has a nice wear spot and I bought some leather dye that another member suggested from Amazon. I don’t want it sitting at Ford for 6 months or longer to get it replaced.

Thanks for the replies and thanks for moving.

What leather dye did you get?
Also, this is the passenger seat—either it’s wifey or my old Dad, both have no idea.

I get in like you guys … drop my but in and then swivel my legs in.

wish it wasn’t so delicate.

I looked back in my Amazon list and couldn’t find it. The packaging has no markings on it. I try searching for something that looks like it.
Gad you guys are a PITA with your questions! LOL! I spent a good 3 minutes trying to find the info I'd written down about a year ago, but I found it. Leather World Technologies, 5851 Cloverdale Rd. Roanoke, Va. 24019. Phone: 540-265-9038 or 877-293-1723. I haven't ordered any dye from them as of yet. They did have dye available for my 2019 GT350 seats so I would "assume" they will have dye for the new GT500 leather. I recall they wanted the VIN from the car. Hopefully they are still in business, so give them a call next Tuesday. Their web site is still up. I think I called them by phone in order to confirm that they had the dye for my car seat and they did. Good luck.

You can try calling a local upholstery shop because they may have some from a previous job. I don't know what quantity they have to buy but I can ask my dad and see what he would have to do. Otherwise, black shoe polish works for me.
