Just looking for some thought on what you think will the future of the gt500.
Im not an insider on whats going on at Ford but I have been very attentive to Shelbys ever since my high school teacher in 1968 bought a new 1967 GT500. I have owned a 1967 GT500 and many other mustangs and fords over the years . Just a few points for discussion:
1. In 1968 Ford took over production of Gt500 and i never liked what they
did to it personally. Look what happened to the gt500 in just a few
years ( mustang II anyone ).
2. Now it seems SVT is getting out of the picture and no one really knows
what the bean counters will do.
3. Carrroll Shelby is in his 80's ( just a bit ahead of most of us )
and I dont see him having much more to do with the GT500 project. He
has never had a long attention span when it came to any of his
projects
He likes to do them then move on to something else. So with SVT and
Shelby maybe out of the project who will make sure we have big
wheels on the rear and a tiger in the tank?
4. Last point is Fords bottom line. I was going to wait for 2008 to buy a
GT500 and let all the dust settle, but with the problems Ford has had
selling cars ( Toyota was just announced today as taking over #2
auto seller in the USA ) I thought maybe they wont even make them
after 2007. Who can say what they they would have to do to get
back on their feet, kinda scarey.

With all these things going on I would have been sick to my stomach if I hadnt bought the 2007 Gt500, my wife is sick because i did.

Very new to this site but this is exactly the question i have had on the 2007 gt500. I havent been able to get a 2007 and have been wondering if they will still be sold in 2008 and 2009 like they planned. I have had the same thoughts along the lines of sss07 and have become increasing anxious and desperate to get one before who knows what happens. Think i heard today that Ford had just posted its worst market share ever. Think Toyota will take over making the GT500....maybe?;)
