In case anyone has not seen this video before.

Bad ass! That’s haul’n ass!

I don’t recall anyone hitting the 200 mph mark with a stock car… does anyone recall any…?

Unfortunately, no. Car & Driver or Road & Track got it to like 197-ish, but ran out of straight road. Ford apparently used some super long (5 mile) straight in Europe to achieve the top speed for testing. For some reason, France comes to mind. But I don't know for sure.

Pretty sure I could hit 200 in my 2021. I was at 160 the other day in 4th gear around 4000rpm. I did that in a one mile stretch of I-35W

With the 180 governor removed, I suspect a stock 2020+ would hit 200 quite easily. It pulls hard up to 180.

Ford did someplace in Europe, not sure if it was a 13 or 14..
I meant any owners. I would have liked to see someone be able to replicate the 200 mph claim to back up a manufacturer’s claim.

Would be hard for an owner to do that because of conditions, locale, and the police. I-90 coming into Rockford is really straight for many miles, but staties like to hang out, so that makes it difficult. I remember reading about some people getting stopped for some really high speeds over in NW IN a few years ago. Over 150 if I remember right.

I’ve only been up to 187 in my stock 2013 GT500. (According to TRC APP). Getting up to 180 wasn’t so bad. That last 9 miles an hour took some time. I feel like conditions would have to be extremely well to accomplish even the 196 he did. However I live in Florida where the humidity is brutal, and the heat is intense.

I would like to see someone other than the manufacturer actually hit the claimed threshold. It could have been a tweaked car heading downhill with a 50 mph tailwind for all we know.

200 mph was shocking news when released. I’d like to see something to back up the claim in the hands of a consumer.

I agree this 100%. Well we’ve got our pilot (Goose) fly a 13-14 over to this Italy secret location they have and let’s test it out!

Heck yeah, let’s do it. We can stuff all of our 20-21’ gt500 in the tail of that C-17 and hit the Nuremberg Ring afterward!

Goose might as well take a 20/21 GT500 along for the ride to the secret location, Heck Shawn your Shelby has a few performance goodies on it.
This all sounds like a damn good time!

I’ve hit 175 in my 2020. It handled it with grace. I’ve hit 145 in my 2011 on the same road. It was sketchy!😬

Those last few miles per hour are the hardest to achieve.

As the S550 GT500 is heavier, plus it has tons of aero added to the body, which causes drag, wouldn’t it begin peaking its speed at or before 200 mph? No modding or altering from stock, though, for either, for a test comparison. The newer car would be more stable, not necessarily faster.

I can only speak for what I saw in full drag confirmation… I had the wing in the up/track position plus the splitter wickers installed. I did have the hood vent rain tray removed though. My car got to 175 easily/quickly. If I was going to attempt an ungoverned 200 mph run, I’d take the wing and wickers off, but it just might make it there regardless… that is an unknown until someone actually does it.

A lot of R&D went into aero on the new car. You can feel it at speed.
