I was taking my son to his soccer game this morning and I see this brand new white cftp. the owner walks up to me and we start talking and he shows me this gash driver side front wheel. I told him most likely a rock got stuck between the caliper and the thermal coating. he's going to try to push for warranty what do you guys think?

this is tough because the way the wheel is designed with the tight fit this kind of damage is pretty common but on the other hand it didn't arrive this way. feel bad for the guy but he's taking it to the dealer today to see if they will warranty it, I gave him my number to keep me posted... but this is a pretty massive gash around the whole inner barrel. I've never seen it this bad and this deep. by the way it's so bad that it's losing tire pressure so there's damage to the actual carbon fiber...

That’s the deepest one I’ve seen as well. I’ve had rocks between the calipers and the wheels many times. It normally just results in a light scoring. It’s unlikely it will be covered under warranty. It’s equivalent to getting your windshield hit by a rock.

We have MASSIVE front brakes on these cars. The good is they provide ridiculous braking. The bad is it makes for a tight clearance on the wheels. I am such a fan of the brakes, that I accept the lack of space to the wheels.

Forward him my wheel repair info.

WOW that looks like something besides a rock. Ford has already denied a couple members CF wheel damage from rocks. It’s unfortunate but like Tim said they wouldn’t warrant a windshield.

Highly unlikely they'll warranty that. The only saving grace I see is that it's not in the visible weave on the rim. Hopefully he can have it patched and the ceramic portion of the barrel re-coated. I'm well aware of the possible issues with the C/F rims, but I still can't wait to get my wheel studs swapped so I can get them on the car. I was already planning on keeping my Cup 4's as spare tires when I swap the rims out, but I may keep the base rims too as a spare in case something like this happens and I have to send one of the C/F rims off for repair.

Hate to hear about the wheels being damaged. My beast is from Minnesota so I only have 6 months to screw my wheels 😀😀 it’s not that hard to be careful. If it don’t matter than all good.

Yes not as nice as carbon wheels...I need another set or just buy an extra carbon wheel...for long distance driving.I will end up keeping the Carbon wheels on too ..lol... although those base wheels look hot on an all blacked out gt 500..with a wing.

bc forged are custom made so you can make them however you like. i chose to go with spacers so i can rotate. but they can make them to whatever size and offsets you want to get the stance you like. msg me if you want some more input or a great dealer.

Nice Mistress, I am partial to black performance cars, Don't agree the Base model wheels are ugliest ever, or even ugly.
The Glossy black looks good on any color GT500, I'll agree Ford could have had a better looking wheel made. But They're decent to good:unsure:🙏
