It's been 30 years since I've owned one, but yes, Escort & more recently, the Passport were both rock solid for me. It's a testament if they are still being manufactured.

+1 on the Valentine. I have one in my F-Type and it seems to work very well. In OKC they use LiDAR. I've had several laser alerts, but that just means they got me. LOL

Check out radenso it was designed by the chief engineer at escort when he left that company to start his own. They have good reviews and are self learning to mute the sensors from the blind spot monitors and adaptive cruise from the other cars around you.

Valentine V1Gen2 here. I love it but it doesn’t do anything active against laser, as far as I know.

Mazda’s driving sensors also gives it fits, even with the latest update.

I’d like to try one of the others but at the prices they are, I’m not going to buy a bunch of different ones to try. I do take mine out and move it to whichever car I’m driving. I do need to get another detector for my wife but haven’t decided which one. The previous replies have me thinking about one of the Escort 360’s.

Valentine 1 Gen 2 does cover laser detection. Have had radar detectors before Valentine units and decades ago an Escort where Mike Valentine was a co-developer. A great engineer. Quality outshines other units.

My brain was working faster than my fingers. I meant to type that it doesn’t do scrambling of lasers. I will update my original post.

EDIT: My first post does mention “active” against lasers.

I am pretty happy with it and it has definitely saved my butt 2-3 times since I’ve had it the past 3 years or so. I do like the fact that the detector is heavily supported by the manufacturer.
