Anyone using Nitto NT555 G2 tires?

Hi Everyone,

I was just checking Tirerack to see what I can replace the cup2's with and saw that the PS4's are out of stock for the front. The Nitto are in stock though . Was wondering how they are ride wise. I don't track the car at all so I don't need the cup2's. I really don't want to be driving on the cups once the rain starts here in the Tampa Bay area.

I used G2s on my 2016 GT and they were great tires. Looking to use the same on my front wheels once my PS4s require replacement.

Thanks for the info Evolvd.
I agree with the tire being a very good front tire. I would go with RII"s on the rear unless you want all four squared.
I’ve only got 4,000 miles on the set, but I’m very pleased so far with them on my ‘09.
I have them on the front and back of my GT500, no complaints other then when they are cold.:devilish: When the time comes I will probably put the d/r in the rear instead of a street tire as my car is a weekend toy.
Thank you all for the replies. :) I only drive mine a couple of times a week. I really should drive it more lol. Have a great weekend everyone !

I like them myself, way better than the Slickyears. A friend of mine put them on his GT350. He did 305 sq. corners and was very pleased with them.

Have them on one of my 13 Gt500s , good tires, they don’t hook up as good as the Goodyears and you can break them loose in all gears.
had the G2's on my 350R (aftermarket wheels). good all around tire. of course not close to the performance/grip of the cup 2s. also not as good as PS4, supercar 3, potenza S007, or toyo proxes sports in terms of performance. but again, for a year round tire, it's a good tire.
If all you demand out of your tires is that they're round and black and come in the size you want, then 555 G2's are certainly a tire that meets that specification.

Just don't get your hopes up in terms of capabilities compared to the PS4S.

How many Mustangs do you have Jay? The area under our screen names get clipped when viewing the forum on some devices. It does on my iPad. The signature area at the bottom is a great place to list multiple cars as well as having a signature picture.

I had those on my old ZL1 and I really liked them for a daily driver. I was going to get them for the GT500 but when I looked up the rear sizing, I didn't see them on Nittos website and that worried me.
I have them on the rear, don't hook good, even rolling along about 50mph, drop a gear and still spin, sometimes without dropping a gear, I'm trying something else next time.

I am thinking about running this setup when my PS4S wear out.
I do not track my car but I do run the 1/2 mile 3-4 times a year and may do some 1/4 mile events soon.

Nitto NT555 G2 - Front 305/30/20
Nitto NT555RII - Rear 315/35/20

The NT555RII was designed to work with the G2 on the front.

I am researching the possible issue of the slightly taller 315/35/20 rear tire as I have heard some people have dash lights and I realize there is an issue if I need to throw my spare on the car?
The only other question with this setup is when me and some buddies go do mountain runs...not severe twisties but a lot of the corners are flat out high speed corners and I wonder how a drag radial will react to that...maybe a Nitto NT01 on the rear would be better for all my needs??? Kind of feels like I need 3 sets of wheel...stock street driving, 1/2 & 1/4 mile where rear traction is needed and track tires of hitting the twisties. o_O
