I bought my shelby back in September knowing little to nothing about it, the dealership said it was completely stock, I knew that wasnt true based off the K&N CAI and the wheels from a 2007 shelby, but I wasnt sure what else was done to it, as im looking into it a lot more and wanting to mod the car, I see it has an aftermarket pulley, looks like the 2.6” with 90mm metco pulley combo, but im not 100% sure… having seen that I was kind of confused as to why it had a pulley and still passed smog when the dealership sold it to me, smogged of course. Its my understanding you need a tune to run a smaller pulley, could the dealership have dirty smogged? Or is it not tuned and running a small pulley? Either way, I want to get tuned by Lund ive been looking into it, if anyone can help me figure out if the pulley is actually a 2.6” or a 3” aftermarket lookalike much appreciated!
It is a bit dirty from bad belt slip I had, or have, im not too sure what’s going on there either, checked all pulleys and they seem good, replaced the belt and that was fine but it still chirps on a cold morning not as bad as it used to tho… California Member here!

Looks like the same setup as mine. 2.6” pulley and metco aux idler. You’d have to measure the pulley to be 100% sure. I don’t know about CA smog but here in NV you can still pass tuned as long as all monitors are set and no CEL’s present. In my mind, as long as the cats are still present you should pass. Unless they do a visual and actually know what they’re looking at. The car is most certainly tuned, I can’t imagine it would be running right with those mods on the stock tune.

This looks like belt dust from belt slip:

Yeah I dont think itd be running right without a tune either but in california I believe any performance enhancing tune is illegal, the computer will flag your car for it, which is why im so confused as to if it has a tune or not, would you mind measuring your pulley from the outside and seeing where it lands on a tape measure ill double check mine and compare it to yours to see if it is a smaller pulley

Yess thats what I thought so too, i just dont know where it’s slipping or how and how to fix it
Not sure how old your belt is, but a new heavy duty belt might do the trick. You already have an aux idler… you could adjust it for more wrap. Lastly, take a look at your tensioner. You want it to be about in the middle of its travel. If it is otherwise, your belt length is not ideal. You can also put a heavier duty tensioner on the car, which can help.

1) Belt chirp is caused by the print on the (fresh) belt running over the non-grooved pulleys. It disappears when the engine/belt warms up or gets worn a bit. Take a piece of ScotchBrite and gently rub the print off a bit. It will improve. 2) If it's a 2.6 pulley and a stock size 10-rib belt is used, the tensioner might not be able to keep up the slack. Then it's just out of reach to keep the tension on resulting in belt slip, even with the aux pulley installed. Be careful not to hit the rev limiter with a sloppy tensioner/belt. It might cause a lot of damage. BTW: Best to never hit the rev limiter at all.... the crank snout doesn't like that. Solve the sloppy belt issue by using a shorter belt and check tensioner travel in both directions. With a stock belt, the tensioner should be at 50% position @ engine off. With an RPM belt, the tensioner should be at 25-20% position. The RPM belts are stretching less. Check Revan Racing website for RPM belts. If you decide to go RPM, install a fresh tensioner too. ARS and Thump are the way to go.
