Sorry for the total! Welcome to the forum. I’m not sure on the value, but you can search eBay… be sure to turn on completed sale items in your search. Post pics and location when it’s time to sell.My 2012 GT500 with 31K is going to be totaled. I've heard of people buying their car back. What kind of value is there in the driveline? Thanks in advance for your input
What kind of swap are you looking to do, or parts persay. I've converted someones V6 into a GT, and a GT and V6 both into Shelby's (5.8 and 5.4 respectively)I came across the parts farm in my searching. I'm not looking for a full purchase. Building a poor man shelby and purchasing specific parts individually. And it seems like parts farm doesn't sell parts.
Taking a 4L v6 and swapping it to a 5.4, not a straight shelby swap though. 5.4 from an 04 Navigator. Almost identical motor just the head is slightly different. I have adapter plates that will allow the shelby intake to mount and clear the valley. Just need odd parts here and there. I have the supercharger but need the intake manifold (upper, lower, cooler everything.) As well as the elbow and throttle body. I keep my ear tp the ground for all the little details as well. Wiring Harness, intercooler, plumbing, computer) mostly right now I'm focusing on the engine though. What kind of swap are you looking to do, or parts persay. Hey Chris, I should warn you several electronics from the Navigator engine may not match up to the mustang specific harness in terms of pins. On a few of those projects I listed, my friends tried to cut corners and ended up forcing them to buy another OEM part because the connector wasn't right, or didn't fit with the GT/V6 part even if it's the same part numbers or look visually the same. You'll also need to take into account compression differences, and any other parts you're keeping from the navigator that are not from the GT500 rotating assembly. For the transmission you technically can use any manual that will mate up to the 5.0/4.6/GT500 V8 (5.4/5.8) bellhousing as they all use the same bolt pattern. However you will have to check on whether the starter will fit the cave where the starter fits into the transmission. You will have to buy a starter that fits with the 5.4/5.8 should you try to use a transmission such as the MT82 for example. This is an extremely expensive process, and even cutting corners and with free parts it will cost you a MINIMUM 10k in parts. The ECU and ABS will need to be programmed, and PMI'd as well as other modules if you want to get rid of errors like ABS TSC lights being on at all times and flashing. You will also need to make sure you are getting the proper O2 sensors as the GT500's pre 2011 DO NOT have wideband sensors. If you can pick up a PCM from a 2005-2009 GT500 (preferably 2009 as it will have all available options put into that generation GT500). You will also need to do PATS, some of the programming can be set with FORscan but and PMI or module mating will not work. Also keep in mind your VIN will change. YOU CAN program your V6 vin to the PCM and it will still have the GT500 parameters but it is VERY complex and you will have to understand your car will likely not work with and emissions testing that compares VIN on computer to VIN on the dash plate/registration. The V6 from 2005 is EXTREMELY different from the GT let alone the GT500, unlike the v6 in 2011-2014 compared to the GT/GT500 in 2011-2014. Almost all components are interchangable as plug and play and compatible (same parts used on all trims) for the 2011-2014 year. Where as the 2005-2010 models are HEAVILY different between all 3 trim levels. 2010 is more forgiving due to being technically a Gen 2 S197. I can assist you along the way with sourcing parts, getting programming done, and helping you on installing parts (not in person but online) if you need it. Midway Mustang, The Parts Farm, Rareperformancecellc, clevelandpap, and leecparts are your best bets on Ebay for getting Mustang used parts. There are some other sellers but these have been my go-to for replacing parts, projects I get paid to do and references to my friends. Otherwise all parts I highly recommend sourcing from places like Bearlake Ford or any ford parts warehouse sites in the US/Canada. They are dealer parts shops but certain dealers allow outside sources to purchase parts directly from them (usually for people who are mechanics and don't need or want to go into the dealership). I hope some of this information helps. I also do recommend getting the internals and inside of the engine cleaned up while it's out if you're comfortable with this. Swapping is NOT an overnight project and several of the swaps I have done have taken upwards of a year. Getting parts and sometimes things just breaking in the process can delay it massively. Especially if you do not know what you are doing or are a novice. This is not an easy task and I do recommend you reach out to people close to you for physical assistance as given you are in Canada I can only help via online. Send me a message if you need anything in the future though!Transmition, driveshaft, rear end all are last on the list. I am looking for another 6 speed option that won't cost as much as the TR6060 but that might be one part I make the plung and purchase.
The plan is to refresh the motor while it's out. Also looking for used wiring harness and do not plan on only using parts that are the same and will purchase shelby parts as needed. I have the Hynes Repair Manual for 07-09 Shelby, 05-09 4.0 L Mustang (which included the Gt as well) and the 2004 Navigator (The year my 5.4 is from)Hey Chris, I should warn you several electronics from the Navigator engine may not match up to the mustang specific harness in terms of pins.
