Well, I had a chance to get the car to a track for the first time yesterday. I attended Corral Day in Bowling Green and had a great time. I had the fastest and slowest) GT500 at the event, since I was the only one. Temps were a roasting 95 degrees and temperature on the track was over 100! Not the best air for making record times, but I still had a good time.

While I was there, I put the car on the scales and although it is not as portly as some GT500's I have read about, it's still pretty massive weighing in at 3850 without me in it. (I weigh 230, so race weight was 4080 ).

Car had the following setup for all runs (with the exception of runs 3 and 4, where I reflashed the canned KB 93 octane shootout tune into the car versus the KB 91 octane street tune I had for runs 1 and 2.) Full weight car, 1/2 tank gas, M/T 265/40-18 drag radials, KB 2.8 w/3" upper (15lbs of boost), Steeda LCA's, Steeda UCA, Steeda adj. panhard bar, BMR LCA relocation brackets. Stock 3.31 rear gears.

Pass 1: (missed 2nd on this pass)

60ft....................2.021
1/8 ET.................8.049
1/8 MPH..............96.02
1/4 ET................12.08
1/4 MPH............122.97

Pass 2:

60ft....................1.927
1/8 ET.................7.547
1/8 MPH..............99.14
1/4 ET................11.49 Best ET of the day
1/4 MPH............125.15

Pass 3:

60ft....................2.028
1/8 ET..................7.73
1/8 MPH..............98.13
1/4 ET................11.72
1/4 MPH............123.87

Pass 4:

60ft....................2.031
1/8 ET.................7.69
1/8 MPH..............99.88
1/4 ET................11.62
1/4 MPH............126.12 Best MPH of the day

With some better 60ft times and cooler air, and more seat time, this is a 10 second car as it sits today. I said before I even hit the track that if I got mid-11's, I'd be happy. I'm happy.

Best of all, I averaged almost 21mpg on the 184 mile roundtrip, including the drag passes, with the air conditioning running.:eek:rangehat:

Great times considering the heat and the 60's!

I would bet you will need to step up to a larger tire! 305/45/18's or a real slick!

What are your trap RPM's?

Mike

I was crossing the traps at about 5400 in 4th. If I had a wider rim to mount them on and they were not on backorder, I would have gone with the wider M/T's.

Well, I'm heading back to Beech Bend this Saturday, September 6th, to see if I can better my numbers. Temps look to be a little cooler (mid-to-low 80's) and I've made a few upgrades since the last time with the major one's being a switch to a 2 7/8 upper, AFCO dual-pass heat exchanger and the addition of 3.73 gears.

Well, I didn't get in the 10's yet, but I got a new personal best today at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green:

60ft 1.78
1/8 7.312
MPH 100
1/4 11.18
MPH 129.40

I actually trapped 130 on several subsequent passes, but never better the ET, mainly due to poor 60ft times.

Kick ass Brodie! Keep working those 60 ft times and you will have 10s soon!

I was reading in a recent MMFF about a 2 stage RPM limiter that can be used on any Modular engine.

Was wondering if this would help to dial in the launch rpm. Know of anyone who's used it or installed it on a GT500? I am still dying to hear more detail or some proof that it even exists outisde the fantasy of magazine "journalists" (forget which mag this was in - Road Track or Car/Driver) on the so called "launch" mode that our cars supposedly came stock with.. If my rear tires could speak, they'd tell us that there is no "launch" mode.

Congrats on the improved times! 129.4 is pretty sweet!
