I would need a large bottle of rum and a box of cigars. Come to think of it…..I have both! Come on over!

100% Stock.
Then it’s really no harm/no foul. If you were modded and your engine shit itself, then it’s time to stress a bit. You are all good Scott. I know it’s a bit of a shock right now, but same with my tranny swap… just get er done and get back to having fun!

Honestly, it’s a huge shock. I just filled the tank with fresh gas, started her up, and she gave up the ghost.

She's still under warranty Scott so at least you won't have to pay anything, but that being said Scott I am sorry to hear you having to deal with this, as I am sure its very stressful.

I am trying to fine out how I can get a extended warranty.

In another thread someone mentioned a 10 year deal🤷‍♀️

Anyway as Tim posted already get her fixed and get back to having fun

As I am not a mechanic, why would this happen? Cracked/lifted head? I’m spit balling.
As I receive information, I will update the thread. I do not want to guess and cause confusion. I will report only the facts.

The failure occurred without any warning. The car was running perfectly up to this point. I pulled into a gas station because my low fuel warning light (50 miles remaining) turned on and I needed fuel to complete the things I wanted to get done on Friday afternoon. I fueled up with 13.3 gallons of 93 octane. I turned the car on, pulled away from the pump, and I immediately thought I had a flat tire because the ride was that rough. I looked down and saw the check engine light in the gauge cluster.

I know that the engine failure is not due to bad fuel: 1) the failure was immediate, and 2) four hours later, I went to the same pump for my other vehicle. I filled up with 16 gallons of 93 octane. I asked the station attendant about the fuel supply. They received a load of 93 octane on Friday morning. Between 3 pm (engine failure) and 7 pm, no additional 93 octane deliveries were received. My other vehicle now has over 200 miles using the same fuel and it’s running perfectly. For the record, it’s a 2016 Volvo XC90 with the factory-optional Polestar tune which requires premium fuel.

There were no weird engine sounds upon startup or prior to that. There are no fluid leaks, to my knowledge. As of now, cylinder #7 has no compression and an oil-soaked spark plug. The dealer has escalated the case to Ford. Hopefully soon, we will know the cause of the failure and what the next steps will be.

Just Spit balling myself, My first guess.

The number 7 cylinder piston rings oiling control ring in particular or combination of oiling and compression rings failed.

Here Andy.

They are the top compression ring, then the intermediate compression ring and finally the oil control ring. These parts are relatively small in size but play a large role in the main cylinder block of your engine.

I agree, even though your engine will be replaced under warranty, the shock and abject disappointment of this experience really gets you depressed! You'd hardly had time to wash and polish the car! I know the feeling!
