2012 GT500 Wheel Lock Key

I just sold my 2012 GT500. The car only had 7200 miles on it. I never had the wheels off the car. The new owner just called me and he cannot find the wheel lock key. Does anyone know where Ford would keep that key? If memory serves me correctly, I purchased the locks when I bought the car. The spare lugs were in a envelope in the glove box, but no key. Any ideas? The new owner is unhappy and is feverishly searching the car. Thanks!

Re: 2012 GT500 Wheel Lock Key

Check glove box, center console and trunk. If itís not there, contact a Ford dealer to try and get another.

Re: 2012 GT500 Wheel Lock Key

My key and the four factory lug nuts were in a little plastic pouch in the glove box. Make sure he checks the spare tire well in the trunk. They are made by McGard. I'd contact them over Ford on a replacement.

Also make sure he knows the key lug nut looks similar to the regular lug nuts and that he's just not overlooking it. It happens!

2 possible solutions come to mind.

1. If McGard supplied them and you have the key pouch there may be a McGard Registration Card with an ID number and Julian date. You can use that to Register the set with McGard on their web site (cs.mcgard or call 1-800-444-5847) and purchase a new key. The information is stored with them and retrievable if key or registration card is lost. I just registered mine on line. When I sign in a screen comes up and list the key, wheel lock, and plastic pouch. Simply select quantity and place order. Obviously the new owner would be the one to register the set as it would then be in their name.

2. Call a local Ford Dealership to see if they have a master key set and/or if they can order a key. IF they can order a new key problem solved. If not and they can remove the locks you could then order a new set with key.
