Default 2011 GT500 Pulley & Tune upgrade 545RWHP/534RWTQ

Local guy brought his 2011 GT500 over with 1500 miles for a pulley swap and dynotune. I tuned the car first, to see how the 11s responded. We saw a nice gain of 36RWHP and 28RWTQ. Most 10s-11s will see 20-40RWHP gain from tuning, the gains aren't as large as the 07-09s. This is due to 10-11 having knock sensors which allows a more aggressive tune from the factory.

We swapped the pulley on later in the afternoon when it was getting warmer, we saw a 3-4psi increase throughout the curve and a peak TQ gain of 42RWTQ and a peak HP gain of 25RWHP. Had the conditions not gotten worse the peak HP gain would have been better. You can also see that the car is now starving for air up top, with a peak HP gain from the pulley swap of around 30-40RWHP in the 5000RPM range, it tappers off up top due to the need for a larger throttle body. We would get 10-20RWHP from a TB swap on this car.

Overall we saw a 61RWHP and 70RWTQ gain from a pulley swap and custom tune.

Stock look 2.59" pulley:

Larger 90mm replacement idler installed below IC tubes to take up slack and improve wrap.

The 2010-2011 fusebox has the IC relay and fuse built in, the rear most little relay is for the IC pump, you can install a jumper wire diagonal in it to run the IC pump while the car is on the dyno:

Since you are only making quick WOT hits on the dyno, the IC system really never has a chance to fully circulate and cool. Also since the car is not moving the only airflow is provided by a fan. Jumping the IC pump and sitting a fan in the front of the car helps to keep temps stabil and prevents major heat soak from run to run.

Great report Justin....Ive been waiting for months to see some numbers on the 2011. What size TB do you think would get you that 10-20 rwhp gain???

Justin, I'm curious. What PCM parameters does your tune affect? Does it turn off the inferred catalyst, oxygen sensor, and the exhaust valve temperature protection logic? How about spark advance, how far above the potential threshold are you? What A/F ratio are you at?

As the new owner of a 2011 Shelby, I find this type of post very valuable. I appreciate the images of the graphs and the comparison of base to tune to pulley/tune.

I am also interested in finding out how "radical" this tune is....

Very Nice!!!! I am really thinking going this mod rout along with porting/polishing the stock Eaton SC and installing the best TB for this setup and possibly an aftermarket HE with fans (if really needed).

Guessing these should get ya pretty close to 100RWHP and still be a great daily driver

Hey Justin,
Those numbers look good!

Today I installed my VMP Pulley and Idler.
Plugged the SCT 3x Tuner in; got Error Code1019 "Unlock EMC Failed"
The Tuner would not load a tune at all. Tried a good 10-12 times.
I'm calling SCT tomorrow to hopefully figure out the situation.

Justin- we spope last night, about this issue --- I'll keep you posted as I hear back from SCT.
When you just tuned that 2011, did you ever get that 1019 error code?

Thanks,
Joel.

You'll probably get an answer Stanley, he just isn't on the forums a lot, so give him some time. It's best to email or call him if you need a response.

I have a 2010 Shelby. I did the pulley and tune from Justin as well.
Installed it last week. Went to a dyno day at a local speed shop on the weekend. Made 544 RWHP and 527 RWTQ.
I have the X3 programmer as well. The one thing I made sure I did was to install the latest firmware from SCT. Tune install was seemless.
Hope the helps.

Regards

John Pilcher

On a stock blower with upper only, the air needs are not great, I think even the smaller cobrajet TB (62.5mm) would be fine.
