Hi All, I Was Wondering If Anyone Is Running 18x11-19x11 Or 20x11 Without Issues. I Would Like To Know What Offset You Are Running And What Tire Size On The Rear? Also If You Had To Modify Anything? I Appreciate All Your Input.

Thanks
George

I have the Steeda Spyders 20x11, but I'm only running 295s INVOs for now, as that was the deal at the time. I'll keep you updated when I jump to a 315 or 335... There's no rubbing issues, but I'm not sure of the offset, I'm sure Steeda could tell you if you gave them a call.

I just now saw your posting - for me I got 11" wide wheels from CCW (SP500's). I ordered them to be 52mm offset in the rear, and they are perfect. I run Toyo drag radials 315/35/18 on the rears. By the way, I still have at least 1/2" clearance to the inside from my tires to the shock, so pleanty of space when parking or going over uneven surfaces so they will not rub.

Man I REALLY like those tires and wheels, BIG and PHAT! They look like they really hook up. I know that a lot of folks on here like the 19's and 20's. Yes they are more glamourous but these bad buys look like they mean BUSINESS. Do share, how do they ride, hook up etc....... Spare no details.

Aviator, I love the grabber blue - You have one of the best colors ever made !

The difference between these Toyo drag radials and the stock tires are night and day on the street. The stock F1's are absolutely lousy traction tires. The Toyo's have a lot of grip to them.

I have only taken these drag radials to a track one time. The track was not prepped, and I still spun a good bit, but I think it was because of the quality of the local track. I would put the stickyness factor about the same as the Nitto 555r's (which are on my wife's Roush). The Toyo's are nice looking treads and was the size I was looking for. I was told that Toyo tire company actually owns Nitto tire company.

Another thing, when I put them on, there was absolutely no difference in ride feel or noise. I was worried that there might be, but the ride is very quiet and comfortable.

A few weekends ago I drove with them from Alabama to Kentucky for the NMRA nationals and back. The ride back was in a pouring rainstorm all the way home, and was a little iffy in the rain. Drag Radials are not meant to be driven in the rain. I don't like to get my car out in the rain at all, and the forecast called for 10% rain when we left for Kentucky, but a freak of nature event happened, and we found that 10% the entire way home.

Here is a picture up next to the stock tires (same exact height, despite the tire size that should have been about .4" lower). Not all tire sizes run the same for each manufacturer.

Another pic, with the wifey's Vert in the background.

You have me sold. I have been following threads for weeks on tire configs etc.... for me this fits the ticket. Something that is aggressive looking as hell and will hook up when need be. Now, I have a 2010 with STEEDA springs and PAN HARD bar. Will these monsters fit on my car?

Hey Aviator, the same wheels also come in a 19" height (same as your 2010 stock) in 11" width, that also looks killer. There are also a few good 19" tires out there, just not any drag radials that I am familiar with.

Hey 283E, these tires (toyo drag radials) are very streetable as long at the roads are not being rained on. They are very quite, and drive great. The offset I used of 52mm on the back wheels just cleared the back calipers, and at 55mm, there would not be much of a difference, only having the wheel stick out 3mm more is not much. 3mm is like 1/8" of an inch. Depending on the type of wheel, and how the spokes are made will tell you how much clearance you have with the caliper.

Here is a picture of the same wheels in a 19" version, that originally sold me on the wheels:

Thanks Guys For The Offsets. Seems Like This Thread Is Picking Up Steam. I Really Like Those Toyo Tires, Wish They Made That Size In Something A Little More Streetable Like The Nt 555.

Called An Outfit About Some Wheels, He Recomended A 55+ Offset To Clear The Brembo Brakes With Thier Wheel. With Manufactures And The Guys That Widen Their Wheels, Seems Like I Am In The Ball Park.

I May Wait For One Other Wheel Manfacture To Cut Loose Their Wheel Before I Pull The Trigger.

Very Nice, but do we not get better performance from a 18 versus a 19?

I believe you are right with that assessment.

SVTFLYBYE - We need a bigger picture of that. (Gear Head PORN)

BUMP

There are a lot of tire questions flying around right now.

I have been searching for days myself and cant find any real option in a 20 other than the spyders. Just talked with steeda today and will probably be buying the same as gassman with the 315\35\20 and 275\35\20 NT05. Just have to decide chrome or machined for a black car, wish I could find more pics of these installed other than on a red car.

Gassman, Were you concerned about the 28+ inch tire height for the 315/35's ? I saw this brought up in another post about gearing and got me wondring how much it would affect the seat of the pants.

My drag radials are M&H 325/40-18 on widened stock wheels. The tires measure 28.2 inches in diameter.

My car is lowered on Eibach coil overs and the tires DO NOT rub.

Gearing:
Going from a the stock 285/40-18 to a 315/35-20 will result in an effective 6.5% gearing reduction.
Thus
3.31s will feel like 3.10s,
3.55s will feel like 3.31s,
3.73s will feel like 3.50s,
4.10s will feel like 3.84s.

I may just change my tire selection to the toyo proxes t1r, in a 305/30 & 275/35. Both are 27 inch and the 305 toyo says 12.3 width vs 12.4 on the 315 Nitto NT05. Whats .1 anyway?

The chart for the Toyo T1R 305/30ZR/20 shows 10.5-11.0-11.5 for rim size needed. I know that the spyder wheel is an 11 and will work fine but I am torn cause i really love the CS40 wheel but its only a 10. A friend of mine that owns a shop (who will mount them for me if needed) says he can mount these toyos on the 10 no problem and will not cause any problems. Anyone have in thoughts on this? Will it just bulge the side wall out a slight amount or be unnoticeable?

Hi, all I started the thread but haven't answered in a while. Hirevn, my personal take on your qeustion is I would not put that tire on anything less than manufacture recommendations 10.5. If you do, and it can be done but at the cost of performance and tire wear ( the center wearing before the edges). I believe others would agree.

Also noted on this thread that a 28+" tire in the front was being tried. On another forum I asked about a 275/40/20 up front and they thought it would be to big possible a 35 series would fit. I was trying to find something to match the 315/35/20. One person said he used the 245/40-45/20 the one that was close to the same size as the 315/35/20 and it rubbed a little on the inside plastic liner when turned hard. The reason I wanted tires this size was to keep the stock spring set up to fill the fender voids and keep my traction control from sending a code or working improperly. Also when going with a wide and tall 28" plus upfront shock spring platform can get in the way.

A guy ran 285/35/19 upfront on saleen heritage 19x10 wheels (tire was 27.4" tall) and said it was tight for height (.5" clearance).

If you look at Ground Control coilovers, they claim if they are put on you can run 295s up front.

I have a later 2007 gt500 and SVT told me I had stiffer springs in the front than the earlier models. I really like the way mine handles and rides. But hate the fender gap. So I have been debateing on 285/35/19 all the way around or going with the Ground Control coilovers on the front and their lowering springs on the back for a a staggered set up nitto invos 325/30/19 rears and 275/35/19 fronts on 19x11 and 19x9. The tires are 26.7" tall keeping me close to stock and the suspension will allow me to lower to fill the fender gap.

Just a few things I have picked up on various forums.

Good info, thanks.
After checking in with steeda again and there re assurance that the NT05 combo they have 315/35 (28.6" tall) and 275/35 (27.5" tall) will be fine with the spyders, I will try that route. My car is dropped only 1"fr 1.5"rr and they say its fine. They have tested this tire on both the q350 & q550 with great results and no complaints about gearing so they say. After looking at 2008GT500'S car in this thread, the steeda machined face wheels look awsome IMO and should look good on mine being black with grey stripes. I am at 520 rwhp so hopefully the 28.6" rear tire wont be to much concern, we will see.
Gassman posted up a few days ago that he ordered this same setup, maybe he can post up some pics or info once he gets them installed. I plan on ordering my set in about 1 week, trying to pick wheels/tires is a pita!

I love em, just wish the NT05s were out when I bought mine... Oh well, what's another few hundred... I'm glad you all waste as much or more money than I do. It's great to have a support group with the same addiction. lol

I am glad you are happy with them, makes me feel better about my choice. Other than the steeda cars, yours is the only one I have found a picture of using these wheels. I am kinda suprised as steeda is a big company and its the only 11 wide wheel out there readily available for the s197, that I kind find anyway.
