Well the numbers are not very impressive, I was expecting alot more. However the car is running rich and could stand to use about 2 or 3 degrees of timing. Temp outside 87F with 27% humity

503rwhp & 488.9rwtq:mad:
12.2 MAX BOOST
no other mods to the car.
Exhaust and suspension next

That's less than I expected also.:(

What your next step? Adjust the tune? Are you going to call Evolution?

What suspension mods do you have in mind?

Hmmm...that seems low for a Stage 2. I definitely would give Fred at Evolution a call. I'm getting 507rwhp and 487rwtq with just a stage 1, and that's at 6,000 feet altitude.

I wouldn't think that your axle backs would be making as much power as my 2.6 pulley.

BTW I just ordered complete exhaust. (no headers)3" from the stock manifolds all the way back w/ no cats.:D

I doubt I'm getting any hp increase from my axle-backs. If anything, maybe 1 or 2 hp.

Yeah I know........I just don't have the right tune. I have seen 2 people with stage II that are making 560hp. I am waiting for a call back from Fred now.

Check the new Modified Mustang mag. Seems until you do something about the headers better exhaust won't do you much good. They show the outlet of the stock header is only 2 inches so larger pipes won't help much. They have a pic of the stock cast header with a tape measure on the outlet showing 2 inches.

AC I agree, but if you go the route of headers be prepared for alot of swearing and red nuckles. Just ask 07 he will second that I am sure. I have the Bassani equal length long tube headers and high fllow cats with three inch from the collectors to the mufflers, but until I get my trans situation resolved I will have to wait to hear and feel the results. Loosing my patience with Ford & SVT as there seems to be alot of finger pointing between them and Tremec. The latest is the dual disc clutch is not fully disengaging on quick high rpm shifts causing undo stress on the synchros resulting in failure as they are overworked. Tremec also claims this is the reason for the bump most folks are getting on a normal shift to second. The temporary fix, according to them, is to grease the spline where it enters the clutch plates. This comes from the engineer at Tremec who designed the TR6060. They are aware of the problem and have been asked to come up with a fix or design change but have informed me that the problem is more with the clutch than with the tranny. Who do we believe? Constant quick(and I mean QUICK) high rpm shifts, for those that are capable, will result in synchro failure for sure. Hate to say it but this car can not be driven as it was meant to be, at least not in my book. I have also received unofficial word that there is a design change in the works to increase the surface area of the discs(tranny) as they were modified in the final producition stage. Sounds like there are issues to me, although no one wants to step up to the plate. Looks like nothing much has changed in the American Auto Industry for those who chose the first production of a new transmission and dual disc clutch marriage. Put the product out there to meet production date deadlines and worry about how the chips fall down the road. How did Mr. Shelby allow this to happen is beyond me. Hope he makes some tranny modifications to the Super Snake, or maybe that is why it comes without a warranty.

I set it up for Friday because of weather concerns but I may try to move it up to Wednsday. It's starting to look like the weather may be ok.

The dyno shop told me he has done 2 GT500s so far. One stock (445 hp) and one with a cai & tune only at (522). Mine will be the 1st with a pulley. He seems as anxious as I am to test it.:)

I am waiting on your numbers. I talked to fred today and he seems to think my numbers are so low because I only had 530 miles on the car when I dynoed it. I wouldn't think it would be that big of a differance. He told me to put another 500mile on it and then go and have it redynoed. But at the the same time he asked where the wideband was taken and I said at the tailpipe and he so Oh no you need to tap in before the the cats. In which he is kinda steping on his toes by saying that right after I told him it was running rich. If I was tap in and check the A/F before the cats had time to clean up the unburnt fuel then It would ready richer.

Well anyways I am going to put the exhaust on (when I get it) and put some more miles on the car and then I am going to have it dynoed tuned here locally. To hell with mail order canned tunes.

So how did your car do today harley?:D

Well the results are in and mine is the same as yours. Very disappointing.:(

505.89 rwhp and 496.81 torque (I want my other 50 ponys:mad: )

My car has 1,500 miles on it so I don't think the extra miles will change yours.

I was told my A/F was close but could use a little more between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. He said over all it was good though. Not sure exactly where he tapped in but it was up by the cats.

I will call Fred tomorrow also and see what he thinks.

I think I'll get drunk now:(

harley,
Have you decided what you were going to do now!

I talked to Fred from Evolution Performance last Wednsday and he told me he would call and talk to Mroz, the guy who dynoed mine, and call me back. No call to Mroz as of Monday evening and still no call back to me as of today.:(

Monday I took my flasher to Mroz so that he could check to see what the tune was but Evolution has it locked.

Mroz called SCT and told them that the car only pulled 506 rwhp and SCT agreed that there is something wrong and that it should pull 550 to 570 rwhp.

I have an appointment tomorrow to take the car back to the dyno to "data log " it and go from there. As I understand it they run the car for 15 seconds at various rpm's and record the data. I'm not sure if they then take that data and develop a tune or what. I'll find out more tomorrow.

I had hoped that Evolution Performance would have been more help since we are not getting what they advertised.:(

Have you done anything about your's yet?

When I first dyno'd mine I had my XCAL with me so Brian (dyno guy) data loged it on that day. I think I pm'd you when I was drunk and pissed and might have mentioned what I was planning to do. If not:

first try to work with evolution: Tried that They give me the run around kinda like they are doing you.

Then I told brian what fred said about the A/F and taking the reading before the cat because it was a more accurate. Brian agreed, and said that it would read even richer before the cats because the cats clean up the exhaust or unburnt fuel.

I called brian back and told him that I had an exhaust on order (3" bassani full exhaust w/ no cats) and that I wanted him to dyno tune the car. I guess he needs to get a liesce from SCT for the car (cost him $500). And then he will beable to tune it. He is charging me $350 to do the tune.

I ordered the exhaust on Monday the 9th and it still hasn't been shipped. I emailed v8power.com (where I ordered it) monday night and they responed with this.

"Usually I place the order with Bassani and pick it up and ship it out the next Day.

I placed the order on the 10th unfortunately they take Fridays off.

They are only 15 minutes away!

I called them today to check the status and they said it would be ready this Thursday Morning."

So I am waiting right now. I was hoping to have it on the car this weekend because I am going to the Fun Ford Weekend in Norwalk, Ohio this weekend. I guess I am going to have to run the car with the poopy numbers (503hp & 489tq) wish me luck I was hoping for an 11sec pass but I don't see it with the crappy tune in the car. I am going to run it with stock tires and stock gears. What are the stock gears? I thought they were 3.55's but I read somewhere someone said 3.27's. I haven't crawled underthe car to look! Hell it probably says on the original window sticker.

If I remember right, the stock gears are 3.31. Mroz wants to install 4.10's in mine. He has already installed 4.10's in another GT500 and they liked the results.

Does your exhaust include headers and are you installing the system yourself? It will be interesting to see how much it helps.

Have fun at Norwalk and I'll keep you posted on what I find out.

I didn't get the headers yet but this system will bolt up to headers. I will just have to order different mid-pipes. Not sure that this system will help out too much because the stock exhaust manifold only has a 2in opening at the collector. So that is going to me my restricking point. I mainly bought it for the sound and the fact that when I do get the headers this full exhaust will still bolt up to it.

yes, I will be doing all the work myself. Unless I can find a buddy that ain't busy. If I do it on the weekend hell all my friends would be over cause that is a good reason to drink.

"Hey babe, I am going to JJ's house to help him put on an exhaust"

After about 10 of those, We will have a small party. And then I bet I would even have to get under the car. They are all gear heads, and they would do it just to say that they worked on a gt500.....hehehe:D :D :D :D :D :D

Nt sure when I will get the headers, but the next purchase will be the drive shaft.

I'm starting to think that the poblem JJ and I (and others) are having is that we are not getting the boost we are supposed to get. I know I'm not getting the advertised 4lb increase.

They sent me a 90mm idler pulley and after looking at photos from the Romeo trip, I can tell that 07's pulley looks larger than mine. I also noticed that in your signature you have a 100mm pulley. (what size pulley do you have JJ) The 100mm pulley will give us more wrap around the blower pulley.

I think the belt is slipping. I ordered a 100mm pulley (from Atomic Performance). After I install it, it's back to the dyno. This time we will hook up a boost gauge to record the actual boost.

Thursday my dyno guy installed a tune straight from SCT and before we ran out of time, ended up with 511rwhp and 514torgue. We did not get a chance to tweek the timing.

If the belt is slipping and if we eliminate it, more boost should put us were we expect to be.

They don't make a smaller belt right now so the idler takes up the excess slack. It is fixed at the idler(new pulley)but is spring loaded at the original tensioner pulley down by the crank.

Cal,
With the 90mm idler there is 10mm between where the belt passes after the blower pulley and 8mm between the idler pulley and the blower pulley. With a 100mm pulley you will have very little clearance,5mm and 3mm respectively,if it is a metco setup.

Fred, I recall my idler pulley being adjustable, it can be adjusted (up or down)to create more tension on the belt and once adjusted stays in a fixed position, unlike the spring loaded stock idler. I do not recall what position it came set at from the manufacturer. I purchased my set up from Evolution, so I assume we have the same one. The idler has to be removed to make the adjustment as the set nut is located on the back of the idler. This would enable the idler to accomodate various pulley sizes and still make use of the stock belt.

I did find out that they only made 128 cars like mine:D :D :D :D
and I think 140 something of the black with red.:D :D :D :D :D

Fred, I recall my idler pulley being adjustable, it can be adjusted (up or down)to create more tension on the belt and once adjusted stays in a fixed position, unlike the spring loaded stock idler. I do not recall what position it came set at from the manufacturer. I purchased my set up from Evolution, so I assume we have the same one. The idler has to be removed to make the adjustment as the set nut is located on the back of the idler. This would enable the idler to accomodate various pulley sizes and still make use of the stock belt.

Cal,
My bad.Joe is right.I just went and looked at mine and there is 2 positions for the new idler pulley.Mine is set up for maximum tension. You should look to see if yours is set right.Sorrrrrrrrrry Joooooooooooooe.:D

No prob Fred. Since I can not spend time behind the wheel I can spend quality time with my mods.:D:( You can see I have mixed emotions on that subject.

Yep!:)

You guys are right. I just went out and looked. Took the bolt out of the back and found that there are (3) positions (slots) and mine is in the middle.

I received the 100mm pulley today. When I find time, I'm going to go ahead and install it and adjust the pulley to where I can get the most "bite" on the blower pulley and still have clearance. I could probably get it done tonight but went in this morning at 4 a.m and am beat. I think my hours are alot like Fred's.

Thanks Joe and Fred. Much appreciated!:D

Try Jon Lund at Jon Lund Racing. He wrote the Evo tunes. I had him tweak mine. I have datalogged it on start up....through the gears...WOT...etc.

Jon did some real magic.
