: New PB MPH
RTSteve 03-19-2011, 08:53 PM Well, till i get my new wheel and tire set up, I have gone to the track chasing the elusive 100mph mark in the 1/8 mile. I had run a best of 99.20 mph back in November, and had matched it again in February, but finally today I was able to hit the number. This was the first day of racing at this track today, so traction at the line was minimal. It was warm enough at least that it would hook down track, which has been my problem over the colder months. The only launch rpm that would work was idle, which produced a neck snapping 2.06 60ft. time, and it charged to a 7.99 ET at 100.20 mph. So while the ET was pretty....well... PATHETIC , I was at least able to make my mph goal before the next round of mods, which will probably arrive sometime next week :)
I Had forgotten how addictive this was.

I might as well. Hadn't really thought about it since the best ET and MPH weren't on the same pass.... but then again, they usually never are. Lol
Sa-When 03-20-2011, 07:04 AM Dang when you get her to hook you should be low 7s..keep us updated..
T1ck_T0ck 03-20-2011, 04:39 PM Grats! I still haven't figured out the magic to launching the Shelby. I've never had a car with this much power so I'm still trying to learn it.

With my car it is either hit or miss, and most of the time it is a miss. On my best pass I only managed a 1.86 60ft, and that is about .2 seconds off of what I feel it should be. Traction off the line is pretty much a joke, and in colder conditions it has actually even lost traction on the 2-3 shift when the chassis unloaded. But on a decent track I can bog it off the line and it will stay hooked up for the most part, which doesnt do much for ET's, but it still beats blowing the tires off totally.
There are 3 elements involved to a good launch, the TIRE, the SUSPENSION set up, and the DRIVER. I have learned the hard way if you have the first two, it makes it much easier on the latter:grinbiginvert:

Well... you left out one more that can trump the first three. TRACK PREP AND LINE CONDITIONS. ;)
VNMOUS1 03-21-2011, 08:12 PM Ya got that right bro.

Haha I definitely need to keep your advice in mind. My 0-60 in this car is around 10 seconds :-/
Robertt305 03-21-2011, 10:48 PM When 60 foot sucks then mph is sky high...
But when you 60 is badass and breaks diffs then your mph is down low..
It's weird but the faster you go the slower you are and the faster you are the slower your going.
Think about that for a sec

Can be true SOMETIMES.... it all depends on the amount of wheelspin involved. But yes on the latter, when the 60ft is at its best, the mph usually suffers a tad.
Gojira 03-23-2011, 01:45 PM Staging shallow will increase your mph too. and staging deep will lower it.
