I want to thank Rob, Dan and Jessica for doing a great job on the Shelby,

She had a noise rear end so I took her to RS to have it checked out. I figured I needed new gears from the whine that the car had.

This is what we saw when it was opened up:

Well turned out the gear set had a bad wear pattern and the pinion gear had some chips in it. Then as Rob was cleaning up the diff to press on new bearings he saw that the bearing on it was no good and the diff housing was worn and no good.

so a TruTrac was ordered and came in yesterday afternoon. Got a call today that she would be ready and Dan want to make sure we were on the same page on what gear oil was going to be used.

Picked her up tonight and the rear is very quite. so much more quite that I now hear a bunch of other noises I have to figure out.

Once again the crew at Realspeed delivered!

What gear oil did he recommend? When I spoke to Eaton they said nonsynthetic. What weight did Dan and you decide on?

This is not my first Trutrac so we knew not to use Synth. We went with 85w-145 Lucas Heavy Duty as that was what was readily available from his parts supplier. I would have gone 75w-140 as well. From the reading I did it seems that Eaton suggests the weight based on the climate one lives in. Since we see both sub-freezing and 90*+ temps this weight seemed like a good balance.
