: How many people are going to buy one?
GasAlley 09-08-2005, 04:42 PM I have heard of a few cats already putting a deposit on the 07's which are slated for production mid year of 06.... but I am curious to see if you guys are going to buy them fresh of the line or wait until the second run?
ekool 09-08-2005, 04:57 PM I think it really depends on dealer markup.. If I can find a few going at MSRP, I may have no choice but to put a deposit down.
Also, is it true that like DCX, all Ford dealerships will be able to get these (and other SVT units)
racerX 10-29-2005, 03:33 PM allocation will be by being a svt dealership and an extra allocation if dealer is within the top 150 in the nation i.e. your ford/svt dealership sold 3 svt units in 2004 they will be allocated 3 of the gt500 plus one more if they are in the 150 top selling dealerships for total of four. go see your local ford dealership for more info. recommend speaking to the fleet manager and not a salesman. salesmen are mushrooms, they are kept in the dark and fed a bunch of b.s.
Apollo 11-02-2005, 05:13 AM Hey guys (and gals if any),
I just got on a first call list and am told by the sales manager that I will definately get first call when they are takeing orders. They did'nt have a list till I called so he first confirmed that they'll even get the cars and then he called me back a couple hours later and said he had good news and gave me number 1 status. I'm also in 2 lotteries here in SE Texas for call-ins to order the car. I ended up on them first while calling around for info. Those lottos had 56 and 83 people in the hat, at that time, and they'll draw names next year. I know the price will be high and I'll go up to 90g to get the car. For those of you who'll wait for a used 07, I was told that the going rate will be as high for first run Shelbys. Good luck with that. I aint waitin. I'll get back with ya'll next year or when I get the call to order my Shelby. I'll also keep checking around and getting on more lists and lotteries, just in case. I want one and I'll get one an thats a fact.
Barnaby 11-08-2005, 09:31 AM 90K! there's no way I'd pay over sticker for a car. Then again, I can wait a few months to get one.
black94cobra 01-17-2006, 11:42 PM 90K, tell me you are joking! I will get one on A plan when it settles down a little. Ford needs to sell as many of these as they can! These are high profit units, Ford really needs to make some money on cars. Why would they care about the limited run for collectability? Ford only gets the price the dealer pays, not the dealer mark up, why would they want a situation for mark ups? See what I mean?
StickShiftMandy 01-21-2006, 11:08 PM Reading what everyone else has said is making me sad!!!
BAD ROD 01-22-2006, 09:13 AM Well, I put my name on "the list" last night at a local dealer. They would not set a price but guessed it would be in the $50k or $60k range. I am pretty sure I won't pay more than sticker and will give up my place on the list.
They did say that they expect delivery in 3 months. They would not accept money now, only when they have a car on the lot.
Mike
DMiller779 01-24-2006, 10:22 PM $50 or $60 thousand! Where did they get that price? Sounds like they are quoting some ADM. I've read multiple sources on the price projection ans everyone of them is right at $40K.
Doug
the 50 -60 is for the greedy dealers who think they can take advantage of a limited supply vehicle.....your best bet is to find a dealer who wont sell over sticker
HorseTraderDave 01-25-2006, 12:15 PM And how do I find that dealer that will sell at sticker? When you've called 8 dealers like I have, and all of them say something similar ("We are accepting sealed bids to sell at fair market value"), then what's next?
OSHELBYO 01-26-2006, 02:40 AM I put a $2500.00 deposit on one last April 25th 2005. I was 16th at my dealer. I'm pray'in....this is the car of all cars.
hdbill09 01-26-2006, 10:36 AM Hi all,
No BS!!!! I just got confirmed that I am getting a 07 vert for sticker they have my deposit and I have a signed dealer order for my COBRA VERT!!!!!! Melissa is the BESTEST!
Berzerk 01-27-2006, 01:11 AM If all goes according to plan, my Dad will be trading in his 50th Anniversery Vette for a GT500!
Jenkinsbball 01-30-2006, 07:45 PM A guy I work with has already laid down $7-8000 grand on one. He said the total, with all his upgrades, is coming out to like $56,000, with a monthly payment of $950-1000. Freaking insane.
I'm paying $560-ish a month for my GT, hopefully less after refinancing in a little bit. But, I would definately pay double for this beast, if I had the means.
PolarBear 01-31-2006, 09:46 AM Hi all,
No BS!!!! I just got confirmed that I am getting a 07 vert for sticker they have my deposit and I have a signed dealer order for my COBRA VERT!!!!!! Melissa is the BESTEST!
see this everyone..that's how it's done..
....get in good with a salesPERSON, preferably one which handles multiple makes/models....down the road when you are his/her return customer, they'll hook u up....ask me if I pay sticker on anything I buy..
..and have some patience...everyone is so quick to pay a dealer extra, for WHAT; do a little searching for the right salesperson, they're out there. some will probably join this forum eventually and want your business...
I've put down 2500 and I have a sales contract for MSRP. I don't know anything more but the dealer owner is a friend, he is selling and has sold every SVT at MSRP.
All customers are treated the same. He knows the cars are limited but will not play with the numbers, he says it's not worth upsetting his client base.
The way I look at it is if your dealer tries to gouge the price, they are not worth doing business with anyway.
halolegend4 05-03-2006, 10:45 PM we are in close association with our ford dealer here in wisconsin and he is getting 2 because he had won the presidents award and he is having a mechanic trained to work on em and he said that dealers are throwing 10 grand on top right away this will equal 50,000 dollars for a shelby. we are also #2 on the list to get one so we are crossin are fingers!
dsabldvt 06-02-2006, 10:17 PM You are right about the gouging! I had a good friend (sales manager) at a dealership who said he was going to give me a good deal at $19500 over. I started shopping around and found one for $12500 over and switched deposits. I then started thinking maybe it wasn't worth it and started looking again until I finally found an honest dealer and have a signed deal in writing for $200 under MSRP. He called 2 days ago to confirm my price, $43565.00 plus TT&L. My friend has lost a customer.
dsabldvt 06-02-2006, 10:20 PM Try contacting 50 dealers like I did til I found an honest and fair one in a small town.
ShelbyWise 06-03-2006, 06:27 AM Try contacting 50 dealers like I did til I found an honest and fair one in a small town.
dsabldvt...Your stick-to-itv-ness has paid off...I have only heard of one other buyer signed on to pay below MSRP.
My deal had to go through the GM...I'm not necessarily convinced this would have been the case once the hype starts to slow, but I weighed the fact that the dealership is only supposed to get 2...maybe 3 cars and chose to jump on what was offered to me rather than possibly miss out or wait for an 08.
James Vorobej 06-28-2006, 12:11 AM What was the msrp?
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 08:34 AM I am paying MSRP! My local, small town dealer is actually a pretty big dealer. The business manager is a very good friend and I buy a lot of company vehicles there. So he agreed to MSRP for me. All others, 3 that I know of at the moment are going at I believe 15K over MSRP, I beleive. I have never been so happy to pay MSRP in my life!!!

We're in the same boat as you. My Father and I are getting ours for MSRP. Everyone else around here is paying between $5,000-$20,000 over.
We go in tomorrow to sign the paper work and drive our GT500 home. I went and saw it yesterday after it came off the trailor...beautiful car!
LOOK N GO 08-10-2006, 03:09 PM It's nice to see you have such knowledge and appreciation for your families Shelby. Enjoy it, I'm sure you will never forget that pick-up day.

Thanks. It will no doubt become a family heirloom just like my 1971 Mach 1 will be. Those 2 cars will NEVER be sold as long as I'm alive.
weldor89032 08-11-2006, 06:18 PM I bought the first one delivered to Las Vegas, NV. I have always wanted a Shelby Mustang, this was my first opportunity to own a brand new one, so I jumped on it. Yes they charged me way to much, but, you only live once. I am enjoying my car and not wishing and waiting for one. Do I feel liked I was raped on the price for being one of the first to own one? Hell Yesssssss, but I made the decision to pay what they were wanting, no one else to blame but myself. But like I said, I now have the Shelby in my garage. When I drive it I love it even more. It all depends on how much you want something. That is what drives our economy. I hope you all can enjoy the thrill of driving this fun car and hope you don't get raped like I did, but I chose to sign the papers:)
oldimp 08-11-2006, 06:47 PM Congratulations, weldor89032! If you are still happy with the car at whatever price, then it can't be all that bad a price! A lot of us here had to pay over MSRP, me included, but I am not unhappy with my deal and I love my car! Enjoy it!

The bidding is stopping around 55000 on Ebay. The dealers are holding out and relisting them. I'm going to get another one and WON'T pay anything above 10000 over msrp. I feel that's reasonable as that's where the bidding stops on Ebay. A few dealers are even selling the right to buy a gt500 and the bidding still stops at 10000 over msrp.:)
ggbiw 12-10-2006, 08:56 AM I put a $2500.00 deposit on one last April 25th 2005. I was 16th at my dealer. I'm pray'in....this is the car of all cars.
I love what you said about praying. To be honest with you, that is exactly what I did to get my shelby. I'm praying for my second shelby that I intend to drive. I've heard all sorts of rumors concerning this car and it could end up as car of all cars as it is in the reach of normal working people. Keep praying because it worked for me.
ILLEGAL 12-30-2006, 07:45 PM Hey Guys, New member, first post. I kept shopping hoping prices would settle down and I suppose that they have to some degree. I finally bit the bullet in early Dec. Dealer says that he expects Feb or March delivery. On material hold at this point. I have enjoyed this site and visited for a while before joining.
Reply to Question : I have waited as long as I can. Spring is coming
