Recently I purchased a set of Alcoa wheels and Toyo tires from a member here.
He had just bought them from Cruizin Concepts.com.
I drove them about 40 miles and the TPMS light came on.
I reset tire pressure from 30 pounds cold to 35 pounds cold but that didn't help.
I purchased a Ford TPMS tool - 8C2Z-1A203-A.
I have the instructions on how to prepare car (cycle key 3 times, press brake, turn key off. Cycle key 3 more times and leave in RUN).
Horn beeps and dash says "Train LF tire".
I hold the trainer 180* from the valve stem and press button. Stays red for about 5 seconds and goes out.
Horn never blows and dash still says Train LF tire.
I hold the trainer at different points around tire but no luck.
I moved car 1/4 turn and then 1/2 turn of the wheel rotation and tested again....no luck.
I'm stumped.
What do you suggest?

Try driving around the block to "wake up" the sensors and train again within 20 minutes.

thats not going to work, they have to be "retrained" because they aren't the orignial sensors for the car, if driving around works I will be suprised. Usually the dealership will have what looks like a garage door remote and points it at each wheel to reset the sensors. They will turn the light off by driving around if the wheel hasn't left the car and you just have to fill the tire with air. Let me know if driving around resets it because I don't think it will.

i had same problem, the tpms sensors may go off for a bit, but they have to be learned to the car.
I found out all sensors are different, believe it...lol
Go to dealership, tell them you have new ford sensors in the rims and they have to be learned to the car.
He will click the key back and forth several times , then it goes into learning mode...takes this little box with green light on it...holds right on lip of the rim in front of valve stem, then the car chirps with the horn, then proceeds to every wheel doing the same...with a chirp.
Starts it up ane tpms light is out along with message along the lines of set up complete if i remember. Took about 4 min, and dealership charged me nothing :)
Good luck bro.....

Hey, Waldo! Read read the whole sentence. It says drive around then train.

Drove around tonight for over 12 miles.
Tire pressures cold were 35 pounds.
No dash lights or error codes.......yet.
Got back home, tried programming again and NOTHING.
Went outside to my 08 F150, put it in training mode, and programmed each wheel/tire with the chirp from the horn within 30 seconds each side.
Truck said "Training complete".
So I know ho to program and I know my trainer works.
Therefore either my wheels have no sensors or there is some other issue.

Thread update -
Found out the valve stem TPMS sensors (that came in 2010-newer) are not compatible with the 2007-2009 models.
I bought a new set of TPMS sensors (band style) from American Muscle for less than $150 shipped.
Had them installed and all is now fixed.
