: Slow track times after mods, not too happy!

So tonight was our Wednesday night street fights at the local track. My car didn't pick up like I thought it would after all the mods done to it. When it was a stock 500 it ran a best of 12.80@110 mph w/ a 2.02 60'.

So these are mods I did:
JLT intake
2.6 Metco Pulley
Plugs
Dyno tuned to 531hp and 533tq. this was on a very hot 94 degree day.
Lowered w/ Eibach springs
Roush upper anti wheel hop kit

Tonight the weather was the nicest its been. Car ran a 12.71@113.50 w/ a 2.10 60'. I know the 60' got worse but all the power on the stock tires was just shredding them. I don't think in 3 runs I actually got full throttle until half way through 2nd gear.

I know traction is a big issue but i assumed I would of MPH'd better then 113.50 mph compared to the HP.

Also I experienced the dreaded 2nd gear shift grind, talk about embarrassing! I know I didn't miss 2nd. It just didn't want to go.

Any suggestion on anything besides: Get New Tires!!!!

Thanks, Erik

I'm not sure the year of your car, but you basically have the same performance mods I have and on stock tires my best MPH was 115.86, so you definitely have some room to go. The track I go to is also at an elevation of 3,300 feet above sea level, so I give up a bit of HP.

A little more practice and you'll eventutally get the MPH up close to 120 which is where I'm just nipping at now with drag radials on.

I remember running 13 with JLT and 91 tune with DR'S. Then I got the Metco 2.6 and ran an 11.9. So I figured to better it by getting 373 gears but never beat the 11.9, best since is 12.0 flat. But weather warmed up lots during that time. I'm also finding my cars runs like crap when I use octane boost,I've got the 93 tune now and it feels better with just straight 93 octane. And for some reason it likes the plugs at 30 thou not 35 , at 30 there is not the same crisp throttle response. Air,track prep and driver skill play huge. Ask Venmous for his insight and tips,he helped me a lot and best of luck.
