Hi,

My name is Bill and I'm a new owner of a 2008 GT500. Having owned several Turbo Buick's (still have a 10 sec Turbo T), been wanting a GT500 ever since they were introduced (was on Brien Ford's waiting list forever) and worked on a friends 2003 Cobra (tons of mods including a Whipple Charger upgrade), I knew I would eventually own one.

I got real lucky when the wife and I took my 03 Cummins to the Dodge dealer for service the other day and saw a shiny black on black 08 on the lot. Peeked inside and found out this car only had 6900 miles on it. The General Sales Manager is a family friend so we went inside to see what the story was on the car. Turns out the original owner traded it in for a Challenger SRT-8. I was able to take the car home for the night for an extended test drive and absolutely fell in love with it. Went in the next day and signed the papers to become an owner.

I dont plan on doing much to the car other than a catback system and a CAI. I would like to get another set of stock wheels and have them powdercoated to match the charcoal grey stripes on the car. If anyone can point me in the right direction to find a good used set, please let me know.

I am taking the car to the "Corvette Marque Club, School Daze 2010" at Pacific Raceways on July 22 for a club track day on the road course. The club is expecting a bunch of Corvettes (of course), a few Porsches, Ferraris, BMWs, Vipers and CTS-Vs. I dont plan on running the car too hard, but also dont plan on getting beat by too many Corvettes either.... :) If anyone is interested in coming out, let me know and I can send you the flyer.

At any rate, I hope to learn as much as I can from the community here, including what exhaust and CAI to get and from where. I also look forward to meeting some of you as well.

Thanks, Bill

Yeah, that is a ways away from here. I might go with a new set from BuyFordRacing. They have them with black centers for $209 a wheel. Not in any kind of hurry so I will keep looking until making a decision.

$209 a wheel is a good price. Make sure they are not knockoffs. Made in China.

Welcome Black is the fastest color. But you alread know that.

$209 is what I paid shipped about 2 years ago. I only bought 1 for the spare tire but it came in a Ford Racing box with their parts number.

It's still a good idea to ask them if it is the original part or a replica

Speaking of clutch issues....I have never driven a vehicle with a more difficult clutch to engage smoothly from a stop. :disgust: Hopefully this is not the case with all these cars and its something I can fix. I suppose its time to start reading....

Thanks, Bill

Congratulations on the GT500. The eBay seller "greenleafprime" has item number 200465916470 a set of 4 used GT500 wheels for $399.95 plus $100 shipping. They mention "handling scratches" but that may not be an problem if you're going to have them powder coated.

Mustangs Northwest is having their "Ride and Drive" event at Pacific Raceways this coming Thursday. Shelby American is going to have a car at the track on Thursday and they will be at the shows in Bellevue on Sat and Sun. There is more info and registration info on the MNW web site.
