I've got a buddy back east that has been racing his mach1 for years. Hill climbs now. A few drag races. He apparently does real well.
I'd be interested to try my hand at track racing and drag racing.
Is anyone active in this here in SoCal? I don't know how to go about getting onto these tracks. I understand joining clubs is one way.
Is the Shelby driving club here in SoCal well subscribed?
Thanks!

Wow! This is a subject I have thought about.
I have always wanted to do this but I'm too busy, or chicken, to try.
Check out Irwindale speedway:

Let me know if you go and I will cheer you on.

I'll look into it. I've just taken delivery of my car so am pretty new to the whole Shelby thing. Is there much activity here in SoCal? I'm in the IE.

There are 2 or 3 other guys on this forum that I have hooked up with for gatherings and rides, but it looks like you have to latch onto a regular Mustang club to get into a significant group.
I'm in Chino Hills. Another Guy and I are talking about being in the car show in Brea in a couple weeks.
Google brea car show for more info.

The Toyota Drag Strip is in Irwindale if that's close to you. The have "Test & Tune" Thursdays 4pm-10pm. It's a 1/8mi track.

If they're like the one here (Atlanta Dragway) the T&T events are fairly informal but you do need at least a Snell certified helmet if you run faster than a 14 sec 1/4 mi (easy for the Shelbys). The quicker/faster you go the more safety equip you need; so far all I need is a helmet. Verts may need roll bars(?). Not sure how all that applies to 1/8mi tracks.
Fees are reasonably cheap here at $20 driver and $10 crew/spectators. You don't need a club (prob more fun) just go and have a good time! :banana_hitit:

I'll google the Brea car show. In the meantime, I'm in Riverside. We should meet at Victoria Gardens in Rancho for a coffee.
